Yuyuan Garden
Following a pick-up from your city center hotel, travel to Yuyuan Garden, located to the north of the Chenghuang Miao (Town God Temple) area of Shanghai. Built in 1559 by a high official of the Ming Dynasty, the exquisite layout, beautiful scenery, and artistic style of the garden’s architecture give Yuyuan its reputation as “an architectural miracle in the region south of the Yangtse River" and a “mountain and forest in the embrace of the bustling city.”

Xintiandi
Move on to Xintiandi, where the antique charm of Shikumen has been gentrified to international levels of chic that evoke Shanghai in the decadent 1920s. The external walls retain their antique designs, tiles, and exteriors of Shanghai’s Shikumen housing. The interiors however, embody the contemporary style of trend-setting bars, cafés, boutiques, and restaurants across the globe.
