Itinerary
Discover traces of old Beijing and experience traditional Chinese culture on this leisurely, half-day bicycle tour through Beijing's ancient residential alleyways, known as hutongs. Although Beijing has changed enormously over the last 500 years, the hutongs and their associated courtyard houses remain much the same as during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Centuries of Beijing tradition and cultural history will be on display as you cycle to fascinating sites like Houmen Bridge, Fire God Temple, the vast Temple of Confucius, prestigious Beijing Imperial Academy, and through many colorful markets. Pay a visit to the Drum Tower, built during the reign of Kublai Khan and a great observation point for the old hutong area. Pedal through the trendy Nanluogu Xiang alleyway of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Enjoy scenic Houhai Lake, and sample delicious snacks from local food stalls. Your guide will accompany you as you take in the relaxed atmosphere of the hutongs, stopping off at each major historical site.
