    Take a 2-hour tour of Beijing’s famous hutongs, and travel back in time to the authentic old alleys and streets of the city. You will get a fresh perspective of traditional local life, with a tour of some its most iconic urban housing. The hutongs are a labyrinth of ancient narrow streets and alleys, formed by lines of siheyuan, traditional courtyard residences where life has played out for centuries in all its myriad forms. Since the mid 20th-Century, many of these wonderful buildings, brimming with life and community traditions, have failed to keep pace with the demands of the modern city. Tour some of the best preserved survivors of olden days, meeting interesting local characters and learning some basic strokes of the calligrapher’s brush as you enjoy the sights.
