    Badaling Great Wall

    The section of the Great Wall at Badaling is the most well-preserved and is considered a national cultural relic. It has been recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Site and ranks among the New 7 Wonders of the World. Badaling is located in Yanqing County, north of Beijing. This section of the Great Wall was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). You’ll have the opportunity to climb up either the north or south face of the Wall.

    Ming Tombs

    From Badaling we head to the sacred Ming Tombs, the burial sites for 13 of the 16 Ming emperors. You'll have the opportunity to explore the largest of the excavated burial sites, the Changling Tomb, which is divided into 3 separate, impressive courtyards. The site for the Tombs was chosen by the 3rd Ming Dynasty emperor, Yongle (1402-1424). He was also responsible for moving China’s capital city from Nanjing to Beijing. After the construction of the Imperial Palace (the Forbidden City) was completed in 1420, Yongle selected his burial site and created his own mausoleum.
