Nice and friendly
Chris H
Nov 6, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessNice and friendly staff.
Breakfast ok for European people.
Received a room upgrade (to duplex suite) as original room was not ready at 14:00.
Luxury room,Nice bathroom integrated with sleeping room on 2nd floor.
Airco was not working well: temp set at everything between 21-16 degrees but room temp remained (on both floors) at 24 degrees celsius.
Other rooms were cooler (from colleagues). -
You may book Crowne Plaza, but you could end up staying in the Holiday Inn
Craig M
Melbourne, Australia | Aug 31, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessA bizarre experience. Apparently if you are an IHG gold member, you are more likely to stay in the hotel you actually book. Otherwise, you may be led outside, down an alley to the Holiday Inn behind the hotel. A question for IHG - are all your brands the same then? In Zhengzhou they seem to be interchangeable. In any other country this would be unacceptable. The rooms at the Holiday Inn (where I ended up being placed) are comfortable yet dated. Breakfast is at the Crowne Plaza, so if it is raining, prepare to get wet if you want breakfast. I hope this issue is due to renovations somewhere, but I didn't see any renovations, so I assume it is the status quo. Even though this issue exists, much better than a lot of other local brand hotels in Zhengzhou. Wifi is REALLY slow. However this may not be the hotel's issue.

Caledon, Canada | Jul 5, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI have been staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Zhengzhou on regular construction site visits to Henan Province since 2000 and it has always been an excellent experience with very comfortable rooms and excellent food. The staff is always very helpful with organizing meetings.

Hugely improved since 2 years ago

Houston | Mar 16, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe stayed here 2 years ago, and I wrote a review commenting how old and gross the curtains were. This time, the rooms were completely updated. I love the fact that you open and close the curtains with the press of a button. I love the use of motion detector light for the bathroom, that there is no more fumbling to turn on the light in the dark. There are some oversights though, and I am frankly surprised that the remodeling quality control lets stand. In the hallway, there are 2 ceiling lights, one of which does not turn on. I thought it needed a new bulb, but was told that all the rooms are like that. They put a light there, but did not wire it. Underneath that non-working ceiling light is the full length mirror on the closet door. Strange. There is adequate lighting in the bathroom, but not adequate lighting for putting on makeup. The lighted mirror just does not cut it. If you want to see when you put on your make up, take it to the mirror near the window and open the curtains. Breakfast buffet is as good as before. We always think highly of the breakfast spread. We were so tired the first night that we just ate at the restaurant. Dinner buffet is not bad, but overpriced, even at 20% discount for hotel guests. Crowne Plaza is next door to Holiday Inn Express. We also tried eating there. Not bad, but overpriced. Location of hotel is good in that we get to walk to the large park nearby.

A pleasant surprise after my last vist to the city

Bournemouth, United Kingdom | Nov 5, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel, despite undergoing some restoration, was of a very high standard. Perhaps I am slightly biased as I was upgraded from a superior room to a suite which was pretty nice. Split level wit ha luxurious bathroom (Ok it was part of the bedroom which made the question of using the lavatory a sticky one if a couple were to use the room - there would be little mystery in any relationship after that!). There was strange "off note" wit ha fire extinguisher in the corner of the room but I guess its at least a safety feature. The staff were very good wit ha smattering of English at all levels. Even the restaurant had very edible food in both the Western and Chinese lines. Sleep quality was excellent although a PhD was needed to understand the lighting controls. I would recommend this hotel as luxury that didn't entirely break the bank
