  Excellent, quiet and relatively small hotel in good location. Staff are all attentive and helpful. Public areas of the hotel are all lovely with high quality décor and furnishings. The hotel has a number of very good restaurants; we tried the teppanyaki (amazing) the Chinese (very good) and the Café (very good) We also had a light meal in the lobby lounge that was OK.
  The room that we stayed in was to a good standard (not 5 star) but there are better rooms available in the hotel....we might try one of those next time.

  While I live in Xiamen I had to vacate my Apartment for 3 days/nights recently to allow it to be repainted. As I live next door to the Marco Polo and felt like treating myself I made a booking, packed a bag and walked over.
  The Marco Polo Hotel is in an area of Xiamen known as Bin Bei. It is where 90% of the foreigners live and there is a multitude of excellent restaurants, coffee shops and bars near by. The Hotel looks out on a lake, which can smell a little in the height of summer, but which is normally fine.
  While not the newest Hotel in Xiamen it continues to be viewed as the best.
  The check in was a pleasure with smiling faces not often seen in Chinese Hotels. I was told I had been upgraded to a 3rd Floor room which didn't mean much until I realised my room looked directly out to the outdoor swimming pool. I had a door out to a small patio and then could walk ten feet to the pool.
  I admit now this transformed the experience, allowing me to have a door open (I am not a fan of hotels where you can not access fresh air), and to enjoy a swim at either end of the pool.
  The rest of the hotel is great. Lovely service, a terrific room service menu and while you have to walk a little to get breakfast it is the smallest of things. The Gym is spacious and the Pool was great! The only downside is that you must wear a hair cap when in the pool. This is quite common in Asia but I hate them!
  Next time I want to spoil myself I will pop over again, but will not leave it to chance that I get a room on the 3rd Floor!

  Nice and comfortable room except there was a bit smelly on the bathroom sink drain. I stayed at the Club floor with the lake view and it is quiet. The staff are friendly and can speak pretty good English. There are lots of cafes and resturants in the neighbourhood.

  excellent Hotel great rooms, clean, comfortable beds, a/c works great. Breakfast are great as well as the restaurant. close to cafes street and good restaurants. the service and attention is very good.

  everything seems to be perfect in xiamen marco polo hotel. i would have wished for a better internet connection. it seems that it is always slow ans sluggish. the personel is quite friendly and fast to service the client. the gym equipment could be upgraded as some instruments are old and rusty.
  the hotels is really clean and in a very convenient area in xiamen with good walking connections
