Satisfied overall with this hotel choice
edmontonspy
Edmonton, Canada | Sep 28, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyAfter reading the reviews, we booked a couple of nights at this hotel once we arrived in Xi'An by train from Harbin. We arrived about 8:00 PM and the front desk was pretty busy, but the guy working the front desk (new night shift employee) was super friendly and working hard to minimize the wait time for everybody. We never found out his name, but he was awesome. English was not used much there though, but that is where my Chinese wife came in handy. The rooms were priced decent too, so we booked two rooms, one for me and my wife and one for my mother-in-law. The room itself was very basic, but the bed and sheets were super comfortable and the shower was nice and hot and actually enclosed (with a crappy shower curtain) and the shower spray was adjustable to super intense if needed. Wi-Fi was good also. There were lots of food places nearby, including a massive market across the street called Ren Ren Le, which was like a massive multi-floored Wal-Mart and had everything. The food was located on the 3rd floor where we bought fruit, bread, yogurt, beverages, etc. We also liked the location of the hotel because it was only about a 20-25 minute walk to the train station where we took the train to and from Xi'An. The famous Xi'An Wall was close to there also. We found the cab drivers to be very rude in Xi'An since they would not pick you up unless you were planning to go a far distance by cab. The bus was too awkward with all of the luggage we had, so we just walked to the train station which wasn't that bad. I was also very impressed with breakfast at this hotel. We paid $20 RMB per person each morning for the breakfast, but it included western items such as hard boiled eggs, toast, fruit and yogurt. It had a lot of items with their Chinese breakfast that my wife and mother-in-law enjoyed too. Too bad their scrambled eggs had fungus mixed in with it! The hotel staff even stored our luggage for us on the last day while we did some last day exploring before heading to the train station in the evening. They also supplied us with umbrellas since it rained a lot while we were there. Overall we were happy with this hotel stay and would recommend this hotel if you want an affordable clean safe comfortable and convenient place to stay in Xi'An.

Problem checking in late
SheSolos
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Sep 16, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelEncountered some problems at the reception while checking in after midnight. I booked and paid for a 6 night stay with Jinjiang Inn Xi'an Downtown through AirAsia and arrived at the Xian airport past midnight. The booking assured that the room would be secured upon late arrival. There was only 1 connecting flight from KL with AirAsia that arrives past midnight. When I arrived at the hotel at almost 1 plus am, the receptionist did not want to check me in and said I have passed the latest checkin time at 8pm. She said my booking was invalid and I would need to pay extra. It was tiring explaining my flight time and the conditions that stated when I booked that my room would be secured for me. It wasnt the case. The receptionist said that it is a general rule that 8pm is the latest checkin time in China for all hotels. In the end I told the receptionist to just check me into a room as I was tired from the long flight and it being so late and I told her I would resolve it with the manager the next day. Since I booked 6 nights with them, the manager was lenient the next day and allowed the matter to slide. Lesson: Double check your checkin conditions with your hotel in China especially if you have a late flight. There could be an inconvenient clause there which you find out only upon arrival

Good enough
tombillinge
Cambridge, United Kingdom | Aug 15, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI am a big fan of Jinjiang Inns in China. They are clean, have good showers, comfortable beds, good wifi. This one is a little odd as it is quite labyrinthine and it is in a weird spot, but not too far from the centre. The staff speak English and are very helpful. There are better Jinjiangs, but this one is fine.

Comfortable room

Southport, Australia | Jul 5, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThis is ultimately a business hotel however as budget travellers this was a great choice for us. The room, bathroom and breakfast were all good. The staff were helpful and friendly. We walked everywhere from this hotel - the bell and drum tower, muslim quarter, train station and to the wall for a bike ride. It's about 20 minutes walk to the towers and muslim quarter.

Decent stay

Singapore | Jun 29, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyFor the budget price, this is a good hotel with friendly service. Room is clean with wifi. It's not as near to the Drum Tower but can easily take a motorised rickshaw there. There are shopping centers and food outlets around.
