Great hotel with great location.
Ali B
Lethbridge, Canada | May 22, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesStaff didn’t speak English, but we found this the norm in China. The hotel was comfortable, clean and was in walking distance of the subway, sights and dining.
Side note....don’t take a tour to the terra-cotta army. Take the subway to the train station and catch the bus, no 306/5. The whole trip cost us 60$ For 2 CDN including admission to the army, instead of the 200$ a person we were quoted for a tour. -
Average Hotel, great location near drum tower

Sydney, Australia | Apr 30, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe found the Skytel a comfortable hotel in a very good location near to the drum tower and Muslim Street food markets (which were fantastic). Downside of the Hotel is hat no one spoke any English (even though it was advertised as English speaking staff) so we had to rely on our phone translator to book tours etc.

Modest hotel

Lucca, Italy | Apr 21, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesI stayed at Skytel for 3 nights. It is in a great location, very close to the metro station, the Bell Tower and the city walls. I found the room clean but with some problems: the water from the shower did not flow into the drain (it was too high) but remained in the shower tray. In addition, the bathroom walls are all glass without the possibility of having privacy. Even from the bedroom you could see who was in the bathroom.

Price and location would be your only reason to select this hotel

Chengdu, China | Apr 14, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayA personal vacation within China had been some time in planning and my group insisted that I join them. Xi’an was the preferred destination and we took the high speed train there.
We were looking for a hotel on a budget and we settled in on Skytel as they had a triple family room at a reasonable price excluding breakfast. Another reason was that it was quite close to the popular attractions. The entrance to the hotel is easy to miss unless you look for it as it is in a larger complex whose façade has many other outlets.
Checkin was not all that great as only one person attended to the guests though there were more staff at the counter. Despite being a triple room, we had to separately request an additional keycard. Though only 6 floors, each is quite spacious with many rooms per floor. Our room was a standard 2 bed one where the center table had been removed to add a third bed. The one thing that bothered us was the heat as there was also not much ventilation in the room and the air-con was not set to cool. Luckily they provided us a fan. And ironically, they sent someone later that evening to ask for the fan back as there were other customers also similarly complaining and they did not have enough fans.
The room itself was OK with the hot water working as expected, some basic toiletries and separate cubicles for the loo and shower with the basin in an open space in between. Room service was in the mornings and they did a decent job of making up the room. The front desk was not all that friendly on the few times that we did approach it. Proximity to the attractions – the wall and bell tower and Huimin street were all within walking distance. We did not get a chance to try out the restaurant as there were many other good food choices outside.
In all, the location and price are the only things going for this hotel. Service is definitely an area of improvement. -
Great location, nice hotel air conditioning did not work
Mommiex4plus1
Jacksonville, Florida | Apr 13, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThis is a very nice hotel with a good breakfast. Staff was helpful, WiFi was good, room was very nice, good bathroom amenities. The only problem was we couldn’t get the AC to work and it was so hot I had to get up and take a cold shower and wet my hair to be comfortable enough to sleep. We called the front desk and they said they would send somebody up but they never did. It was cooler in the hall outside the bedroom than in the bedroom but maybe because we were on an upper floor.
We could not figure out how to get the window open. Bed was a little more comfortable than most but still a little hard for my taste. We were walking distance to the city wall and the Muslim district (walked to both) so the location was really perfect.
