  The hotel is nice, well located inside a complex that include other hotels from the same group.
  Rooms are and bathrooms are ok, average.
  Breakfast is good, but not extraordinary. personally I though that being a French hotel, the breakfast would include more nice occidental treats for breakfast, such as cheese (which is not common in China and I was missing desperately) but it has the same as any other Chinese hotel.
  The only problem we had was during check-in, we arive in the morning from a night train and asked for early check-in, but it was not possible. When we came back to the Hotel at 2pm, the room was still not ready. After waiting 15 minutes, they told us that our room on the 6th floor had a curtain broken, and that they would change us to a room on the ground floor.When we refused to be on the ground floor...they started discussing between them, and "magically" our room on the 6th floor was available again... That was not nice coming form a 4 stars hotel...

  Having read the reviews on TA and some being quite bad, I thought I had booked a bad one and as we had prepaid I couldn't cancel.
  That turned out to be a blessing. The hotel was lovely. Yes the rooms are smaller than the other rooms we had stayed at in China but it was big enough, plenty of storage, nice comfortable bed.
  The staff spoke good English, we didn't have any trouble. Money exchange was a good rate.
  We only stayed 1 night and had a private driver so it was easy to get around. There are restaurants nearby. Outside the complex and opposite is a park with a few restaurants, we didn't try them but our guide said they were good. There's also a wine shop there so I bought a bottle to drink in our room.
  In the Sofitel there is an amazing Brazilian BBQ restaurant called Churrasco. Its not cheap but its so worth it. The food and service was excellent. If you fancy a change to Chinese food!!
  The breakfast buffet had a good selection and was good.
  I'm pleased we stayed here and I would definitely recommend.

  Good size room and exellent breakfast included. Good location.Nice beer garden. All good. Communication was a little tricky as I don't speak Chinese and staff weren't fluent in English. Thought security deposit was a bit high compared to other hotels I stayed at.

• Good, but slightly disappointing

  This is a monolithic block in a leafy complex which includes other hotels whose amenities are available to Mecure residents. Although the site is clean and secure it is quite a long way from the more exciting bits of Xian; however a tuk-tuk ride for 20rmb gets you around quickly.
  We stayed twice, at the beginning and end of our tour of China and found our room rather small and gloomy on both occasions. The breakfasts are good and the service in the hotel, where the cheerful staff speak some English, is adequate. On two occasions we were'upgrade' for breakfast to the Koi restaurant in Sofitel where a snooty staff served poorer food. And don't ask for bottled water in the Dolce Vita Italian restaurant - it costs £9! The service here is immaculate but does not compensate for an indifferent and vastly overpriced meal.

  A wonderful hotel, great location and loved the complex idea which meant we could use the other hotels in the square. Room clean and luxurious. We were upgraded to a suite as there was a wedding in the restaurant which meant we had to use the Sofitel for the breakfast for 2 mornings. This was no inconvenience to us. The staff went above and beyond to help us. I lost my phone in taxi and they called the local offices to try and find it. Unfortunately I didn't find it but everyone from the concierge to the desk staff where only too happy to help. They were also very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for attractions, restaurants etc. We would definitely stay here again.
