  Had a nice room with a view on the river in an upper floor, quite impressive. Room and service were good, also dinner at the Thai restaurant on top was excellent and for the special price I had (not sure if that is for every Hotel guest or dependent on your room category) reasonable. But best is the location, between the park at the river and the restaurants and bars on the other side.

  I signed up solo for a tour of China with Sinorama Tour company and did extensions at the beginning and end. Glad I did. The agency did a great job choosing hotels I must admit I was very nicely surprised.
  Please note that I went to China with very low expectations and was nicely impressed.
  I wish I could have stayed longer at Howard Johnson in Wuhan. The location of the hotel was perfect for my wondering around and enjoying free times.
  The hotel is very nice for the price and location. The room was very specious and clean. I had a great view from my high floor.
  There was a bar upstairs where I dropped by. Not very busy but nice view.
  I crossed the street and there was a nice park and boardwalk where many people had the same idea as I did. The park was well lit up. There was even a locomotive...
  It was ironic to stay in such a nice place, when around the corner I was faced with locals living their lives in a very different way. Hassle and bustle... weddings being shot in the middle of the streets. Few other hotels around, restaurants and little stores and businesses.
  I can't believe how many places to buy cigarettes. The boxes are pieces of art! Colorful and eventhough I don't smoke I wanted to buy many for souvenir. None were advertising any danger of smoking.
  Another thing that I found interesting in the area were people's clothes. Some were wearing slippers and others winter boots with hot pants... There was zero connections with plaids and squares and colors and fabric texture.
  Just like people and all the places around were all a big mixture and functioning in harmony.
  I walked around from early morning to catch locals in actions. Laundry drying out on the sidewalks as passengers walked by... cars being washed on red lights (small entrepreneurial business going on)...
  I truly enjoyed the location of this place!
  I watched grandparents on bicycles driving little ones to school while the kids were eating (no safety issues there) and all school staff standing and greeting at the gates and Police supervised as well.
  I walked the streets with my camera and poverty was in my face, but there were smiles on people's faces as watched them.
  I felt guilty staying at such nice place next to poor locals but appreciated the contrast.
  From this city I took my Yangtze River cruise...

  Stayed here for business. Rooms were really confortable and they have pretty decent western and chinese breakfast.
  The hotel is just in front of the river so you can get nice views from hotel rooms and at night you can get a nice walk along the river.
  I would definitely come back.

• My first visit to Wuhan

  The hotel is well located on the Yanjiang Avenue alongside the Yangtze river.
  I only spent 2 nights in Wuhan.
  As with most hotels in China, they say that there is individual climate control in each room but in fact it is centralized and switched to heat in winter. With windows that do not open, the room temperature must have been around 28 degrees and no way to lower it. While the outside temperature was around 5 degrees or less.
  Everything was fine except again that very few people can speak and understand English.
  I was lucky to meet Mr Steven HE at the main restaurant who was very helpful to order for me special food as I had a stomach disorder. I relied on him to help me out with many issues like late check out etc. Thank you Steven for making my first stay in Wuhan enjoyable.

  I stayed at this hotel for a business trip, and the hotel was booked by my business partner. The hotel is in downtown Hankou, just beside the river, with excellent river view. Around this hotel there are a lot of traditional Wuhan foods, and you won't regret to try out any of them.
  The hotel was convenient, clean and the service was nice. I dropped my wallet at the front desk and they immediately called me back for that. The room was big, clean, comfortabe, with almost everything you need.
