古香古色
A TripAdvisor Member
Aug 31, 2025 | Trip type: Business
Clean Place to Stay with Friendly Staff and A1 Breakfast

Sydney, Australia | Jul 20, 2025 | Trip type: Business , SoloWent to Wenzhou for business trip and stayed at this hotel for about a week after doing much research on the internet for local accommodation. Did not disappoint with my choice.....
Would I stay in this hotel when I am back in Wenzhou? Absolutely YES!!!
Room and toilet is always clean, seems like they have housekeeping servicing constantly on each floor. Went out for a few hours and back, the room is tidied up, went out again and back, it is tidied up again.......
Breakfast is included and did enjoyed it very much. However, buffet dinner in the same restaurant, 'Maxim' ain't that good and not value for money when you can get far better meal outside the hotel.
Very central located and heaps of taxis and trishaw at the door step. No problem in communication as there is always an English speaking staff at the reception and very friendly and helpful.
The concierge are great help if you need direction and help in guide for visiting interesting places ...... however, they don't speak much English ... need someone in reception for translation.....
Even housekeeping personal is friendly, wishing you when they walk past ..... but of course I smiled at them and wished the too.
I do give tips to concierge and housekeeping and they really appreciate it, so my advise is don't be a tight ...... be appreciative.
To sum it up, a great place to stay in Wenzhou and enjoyed it.
Cheers..... -
Safe comfortable place to stay

Naples, Italy | Jun 15, 2025 | Trip type: Business , SoloThe New South Asia hotel is conveniend located.
Only the assistant-managers and managers speak english.
Most employees aren't used to foreigners, at check-in ask for a business rate; approx 350 yuan, about 35 euro including great buffetbreakfast.
The rooms have sufficient space and comfortable beds, most beds in Wenzhou hotels are very uncomfortable. Good bathroom with a few amenities. There's a big difference in the view of the rooms, when you stay just 1 night you can deal with a bad view.
When you stay like me for 3 months you really like to see something.
The roomservice menu is a good option instead of the restaurant where everyone is staring at you. Unfortunately the roomservice menu is small.
Overall a friendly place to stay, good security and sufficient taxis in frotn -
great service at the New South Asia Hotel

Plymouth, United Kingdom | Apr 21, 2025We have just returned from 5 days at the South Asia Hotel in Wenzhou (13-18 April 2005) and it was superb. The place is immaculate, the staff very friendly with a few who can speak reasonable English. We were there to attend my son's wedding to a local Chinese girl. For those who don't like lifts, beware as with many hotels in China, we were on the tenth floor.
Breakfast is a buffet with lots of chinese food but also a reasonable choice of wesern food. The attention to detail is amazing with staff seen polishing brasswork in the hotel lobby seemingly at all times of the day. Prices are around £30 per night for a double room which includes breakfast for two.
Be prepared for people to stare at you if you are a westerner as it appears they don't see too many. Take a phrasebook we found one particularly helpful. Also the Chinese do not like to accept tips! -
Not Impressed

Fort Worth, TX | May 16, 2025 | Trip type: Business , SoloI stayed at this hotel for 3 nights... and just did not like it... The rooms were clean, the hotel staff was quite friendly [not much English spoken here, but, staff was very nice].
If this was billed as a budget hotel, I would give it an above-average rating, but, billed as a 4-star, it's definitely below-average...
The hotel is a bit dark... even the lobby area needed some better lighting... It felt as if the hotel was lit by sunlight and I was there on a cloudy day.
The rooms are clean and the bed is not too hard by China standards, but, the decor was not very nice [plain walls, nothing of interest in the room] and my BIG complaint was that all the lighting in my room was tinted yellow. The ceiling light, the bedside lamps, etc... all of them had a yellow shade... Made it very difficult to read a book.. Very annoying..
Overall rating is a 2.5 out of 5... This place is just ok.. The room rate was about USD $60/night when I visited in Oct. 2007.
If you don't mind spending more money, check out the new Howard Johnson One Home Hotel. Much better than the New Century.
