  1) Very convenient location together with the line 1 subway, and we can take the highspeed railroad from other city and connect with the city subway directly. However, the distance from railroad to take city subway is quite a long way to walk through, be stronger, hah!

  we chose to stay here as it was close to metro and close to a family member's home. the location is great, close to metro and major shopping strips. pedastrian shopping strips (Bin Jiang Road and He Ping Road) are within 15-20 minute walk. There are some good local restaurants close by if you know where to go. The downside is that it is noisy, you hear traffic and cars honking through the night. We were on the 17th floor, but being so high up did not help with the street noise at all.
  the room is average, moderately comfortable and the bathroom is clean, however the AC in our room never worked. The fan works, but air is room temp. Our room faced southeast so we had to close to curtains so the sun wouldn't heat up our room while we were out. We switched rooms once (from one with two single beds to a large queen size bed, we made a mistake at booking, not the hotel's fault), both times requesting non smoke room and both times our room had an ashtray and also smelled like one. there was constantly cigarette smoke in the hall way. seems like the concept of non-smoke room does not exist here.
  The carpet in both rooms we stayed in were stained, one had balls of hair on it.
  we put the Do Not Disturb sign on our door during the entire stay, so the cleaning staff never came in - can't speak to their service. For refills on supplies like toilet paper, tissue or bottled water, we asked front desk and were able to get everything we asked for.
  The hotel breakfast is alright. you can tell they made an effort to accomodate to western taste. There is a coffee machine that grinds coffee beans, toast and a toaster, butter and jam. The jam is a flourescent red color and see through so i never was compelled to try it. there are some authentic local dishes worth trying, and is probably cleaner than the traditional way of eating them from a street side food cart. The fresh fruit is very much appreciated. Staff at breakfast turn a blind eye if you take small items out of the breakfast buffet, so a yogurt or a boiled egg or so...convenient when you are running late.
  do i regret staying here? not really. the price is great for the location.
  although next time i may try one of the higher priced hotels nearby like Tangla, Moderna or Nikko.

  For years, we've chosen this hotel for our stay when going to Tianjin for a short visit. Not only because it's a hotel brandname familiar to us and close to the place I visit but also because it's the hotel that we really like. Though this hotel (on top of a bank) is by the busy noisy Nanjing Road in the inner city, the hotel rooms that we had stayed in the past years have been very quiet. Additionally, each room is very spacious and invariably clean.
  However, don't expect this affordable hotel to have fancy furniture in the rooms. On the other hand, you may expect a reletively rich buffet breakfast with mostly Chinese food items. The hotel frontdesk staff were friendly and helpful, and they could be smiling to guests to create a more welcoming atmosphere when we checked in. Anyway, they're nice.

  Stayed here in Jan 2014 for one night. The overall experience is acceptable, but definitely not impressive. Front desk staff was not friendly at all (long face) when checking in, although she turned to be much more friendly later on after my complain. When asking for a local map, I was told that Holiday Inn Express does not provide maps, which made me feel how low-quality this hotel could be! Have I got the wrong impression that other HI Express provides local maps? Anyway, this is not the staff's mistake, which could be something the hotel management team could consider to improve later.
  Apart from that, the hotel is just above the tube station and is within walking distance to the shopping area. A convenient area to stay for a short break.

  We stay a night there because Holiday Inn is always our choice of preference based on our experience else where. However, I would say, this hotel is not on par with the rest of the chains.
  Besides good location, nothing seems to be right from the moment we check in. It lack the 'soul' of Holiday Inn. The lobby is not well lighted. Because there is a Chinese restaurant adjacent to the hotel, and without good air ventilation you will constantly get the oily smell in hotel lobby.
  There are 3 elevators serving the 20+ floors, but the hotel management reserve one elevator only for the Chinese restaurant.
  We asked for a non smoking room, to our surprise, we get a smoking room with clean ash tray right in the middle of room. The room carpet was stained and very worn off.
  The bed sheet even though is clean but yellowish and looks old. And it seems that they never clean the window curtain for some time, it was stained and very dusty.
  The bath room was visibly clean, but the exhaust fan in the bathroom was stuck with thick black moldy dust.
  The hotel restaurant was obviously below par in term of hygiene. There was "unfriendly" odor from the table. The worker in restaurant was not wearing their uniform during my visit at 9:00pm. For complimentary drinks, I was insisted by the staff to have canned drink, she went against my request for coffee :(
  By mid night, you will still be disturbed by noisy traffic from Nanjing road.
  By next morning, we did not even wanted to get the complimentary morning breakfast and opt to eat outside. The food selection and choices was not to the standard Holiday Inn.
  Given a choice, we will not stay there anymore next time.
