Good hotel, impressive breakfast
Federico G
Milan, Italy | Sep 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI spent two nights in this hotel, during my business trip in China.
It was a good hotel, close to my Company plant. Kind and very available personnel at front desk, they solved a reservation mistake done by my travel agency.
The rooms are nice and clean, the rate is really appropriate.
Nice live music in the evening, good beers...
But what is really amazing, is the breakfast! I've never seen such a huge selections of sweet and salty foods! They even cooked meat and fish in real time!
Outstanding breakfast. Good overall experience. -
Great place to stay in Changshu

Boston, Massachusetts | Sep 23, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessGood food, good gym, friendly staff! It's convenient to a number of restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet is as good as they come! It's a little far from city center, but otherwise a great stay. Will stay again!

Good hotel for business
Travel_Recess
Seattle, Washington | May 5, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI stayed here for 4 nights for business. The hotel itself if nice for Crowne Plaza. The room itself is what you'd expect, but it had little noise isolation. I can hear the tv noise from next door which didn't bother me, but it could have if it kept on late at night. Wifi was good in the room. The hotel is at an area far from downtown and can't really walk anywhere. They say they have a shuttle, but I didn't use that service. The breakfast buffet is great and offered variety of items and convenience. I think the pillow irritated my face - I read on the last night in the binder they offer hypo-allergic pillow if requested. I wish I was told this during check-in or they use that for all rooms. Minor note for travelers with sensitive skin.

Great for a business stay
Bobo185
Chardon Ohio | Apr 16, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI stayed at The Crowne Plaza Changshu for two nights in late March on a business trip. It is a little less than two hours to the hotel from the Airport in Shanghai. This hotel is on the better side of what you would expect from a Crowne Plaza, especially the public areas. They are certainly set up to handle English speaking guests…meaning at least most of the employees speak at least some English. The things in the rooms and dining room are also labeled in English. This was my first trip to anywhere in Asia and I don’t know Chinese and had no problems. Check in was quick and I was in a large room overlooking the front of the hotel. Noise was never an issue from inside or out. Note: Like most hotels in Europe and Asia, you have to put your room key in the slot by the door for the lights or AC to work. There was also a nice alcove right inside the door for the room service tray or, in my case, a suitcase holder.
My room was certainly not new, but was Clean and everything worked. My king sized bed was very comfortable and it had lots of pillows of various thicknesses..even a thin one, something that is hard to find. The end tables had easily accessible power outlets and light controls along with a phone and alarm clock. There was a reading chair with foot rest and end table by the window along with a writing desk that had internet connections, but I wish it had more outlets. There was a TV with a few English speaking stations sitting on a dresser with a bunch of storage. There was a dressing table and chair with a big mirror outside the bathroom.
There is supposed to be a minibar in each room, but mine did not have anything in it. The small refrigerator worked and there was coffee/tea/sugar, creamer and a pot to boil water. My colleague had a similar room and it had a stocked minibar. I am sure a phone call would have resolved this, but I did not want anything. They did provide 2 bottles of drinking water a day, you cannot drink the tap water, not even for brushing your teeth. The Wi-Fi in the room worked fine. The thermostat did not go down too low and the room got pretty warm. The good news is this hotel has windows that open. It helped to cool the room down so I could sleep.
The bathroom was very large with some counter space for stuff. The shower was separate from the tub (although the tub also had a hand-held shower head) and had a large rain-style shower head mounted in the center of the ceiling. The two terry-cloth robes were a nice touch. There is also a small makeup mirror in addition to the one above the sink. There was even a scale and a US style 110 outlet.
Other provided niceties include: Shampoo, conditioner, comb, toothpaste, tooth brush, shaver, hair dryer, slippers, umbrella, smoke mask in case of fire, safe, shoe cleaning equipment (if you leave them in the provided basket they will be shinned for free), shopping bag, small evacuation flashlight, Iron and board. Noticeably missing from this list was skin lotion.
I ate two breakfasts and a dinner in the buffet restaurant. It is very large, but nothing fancy with various stations to get different kinds of food. For breakfast there was fruit, breads, noodles, American style dishes, an omelet or egg station, some fish, and lots of different Chinese dishes that looked more like a lunch. They do not quite get that Americans inhale their coffee and I needed to figure out the Chinese coffee pot myself a few times. For dinner there was all kinds of food. Everything from live eels that they will fry up for you to noodles, soups, lots of fish dishes, some American dishes with plenty of pork, beef, and chicken.
We had a few drinks in the lobby bar. Nice comfortable chairs and they had a two person key board singer combo doing old US hits in English. There is a large building across the street that has the second floor filled with a couple dozen badminton courts, fun to watch or get some rentals and play. There is a small park/garden next door and some really nice restaurants within walking distance.
I would certainly stay here again if I was staying in Changshu. -
It is more Average minus
Tonnionni
Kuusisto | Mar 28, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI just spent 3 nights in this hotel. My room was fairly big and comfortable. Only small minus goes for noise isolation. That is quite poor meaning noise from other rooms and corridor is easlily hearable. Hotel location is bit far from any shops or restaurants. When you choose this hotel you are stucked with it. My minus goes to the 1st floor restaurant. It is managed well. In the morning it takes ages to get coffee, if you get it at all. In the evening there we outdated shushi served.
