Good location if visiting the University
Haight_11
Liverpool, United Kingdom | Dec 17, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessStayed for 6 nights while visiting XJTLU for work. Check in was simple, the staff do not speak much English, but enough to cover the basics.
Room was a good size, and clean. It's a little bit run down, but was cleaned daily and towels replaced. They supply toilettries - shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Also combs, cotton wool, sowing kit etc. Water is supplied daily too. All complimentary.
There is a mini bar in the room with soft drinks, I didn't use any of the bar, but used the fridge to keep my drinks almost cold.
Bed was big and comfortable with a desk and chair. The air con heating worked well as temperatures were below zero. Wifi works well throughout the hotel and is free.
Breakfast is varied and cares for all tastes from toast and bacon to noodles and congee. Coffee and black tea available - coffee really strong but I got used to it.
Didn't try the bar or have any snacks there, but many did.
The bus takes you to the big malls of Suzhou for 2¥, and takes about 40 minutes. Taxis are inexpensive.
Nearby is KFC, McDonalds and local noodle bars - the noodle bars are worth a go, only 14¥ for a big noodle soup and soft drink.
There are a couple of bars nearby (Rainbows cafe was our favourite) where you can get a large bottle of Tsing dao beer for 10¥.
It's a good location if you are visiting that particular area, staff are friendly. -
Classic hotel well placed

Nov 1, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessOf course this hotel offers standard services but I loved the big size of the room and the desk place. Good simple restaurants in area and two shops..
Cet hôtel très esprit 1980 offre de grandes chambres pour un prix très intéressant.
De bons petits restaurants et deux magasins autour. -
A good choice for the anxious parent!

Northampton, United Kingdom | Sep 17, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyI happened to be in China on business, 3 weeks after my daughter started her student exchange year at XJTLU...so this seemed an excellent base from which to visit for a couple of days!
The centre is on campus, but as hotel, it is of a very good standard, with large, well-equipped, comfortable rooms (albeit it's clear that not all guests observe the no smoking rule!), a decent breakfast - bacon and eggs! - and friendly staff. (The coffee is not great, but that's true across China).
All sorts of strange things happen in reception as various conference and special interest groups are welcomed, but this is a good place to stay, albeit a 50 minutes bus ride from central Suzhou. However, if you have a well-informed student guide, that's no problem!
Very good value. -
Quite good

Brisbane, Australia | Jul 6, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe room is of a good size and very comfortable. The weather had been very hot and the air conditioning did not always cope that well but was adequate. This bills itself as an international hotel in a university district yet most staff spoke little if any English although we managed to communicate Ok. There was always someone at the front desk who spoke better English than the others.
Food is available only at certain times, if you miss those then there is nothing to be found at all, however there is a supermarket across the road.Having Breakfast is quite good with a mixture of eastern and western foods. The dinner menu may be a bit confronting for westerners and we had difficulty finding meals that we were happy to order as although we enjoy chinese food, many of the dishes were quite exotic to us such as bullfrog and goose feet.
The internet was free and worked very well. This was a business trip and the location was good for that. -
A good mid-priced hotel in Suzhou.

Rochester, New York | May 1, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI spent 6 nights here a week ago and found it a vey good value. My room (about 400 RMB per night) had excellent wi-fi, a giant bed, a nice bath, including separate tub and shower. The breakfasts were very good and covered western and asian tastes. Although signs to a non-existent business center confused me, one of the English speaking desk attendants opened a back office for me, so I could use one of their computers.
This hotel is just across Ren'ai Road from the Wen-Xing Plaza and is proximal to several western-style coffee houses as well as other Chinese restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk. It is an ideal location if spending time at one of the local satellite universities. Easy money exchange can be found at the ICBC branch one block west of the hotel, and good Italian coffee and a variety of classical western dishes are available at Zemo's Cafe, around the corner from ICBC.
