Right in the middle of the action
EveryNameTaken-xq
Asia | Nov 11, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThis hotel is right in the middle of the heritage spot. Each day, probably 100,000 tourists walk past your room. It's fun, it's vibrant.
The hotel is just a very short walk from exit #3 of the Shan Tang St subway station, just one stop south of the Railway Station. Make a U-turn when you pop out of the exit. The main road is GuangJi Road, turn left for south and from the bridge (where there should be thousands of tourists) you can see the hotel on the right bank of the river.
We had a room facing the river. Boatloads of tourists will be snapping at you if you stand at the balcony.
The night scene is even more fabulous with all the special lighting. Thankfully, the lights go off at 9pm and the hordes disappear.
The hotel is very central. The bus stop outside has more than 10 routes to many places. But you need to know Chinese to read the route tables.
The hotel is physically ok but for the faucet in the wash basin. It is too near the edge of the basin that it is impossible to wash your hands or face. Ours had no hot water although there were two incoming feeds.
Warning to some: the bathroom/toilet has only glass walls and no lockable doors.
The hotel staff is terrible!! They smoke in the lobby, sending the smell to all the rooms. The girl checking me out was eating her noodles at the same time. They can offer no help, not even where the buses go. -
Visiting Daughter who is a teacher in China

South of england | Apr 23, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe location was amazing. Right on the canal. Room OK. Very little English spoken.
A bit smelly and run down. But if you can accept this the experience is more than worth it. Took a boat trip from the door and saw real China. Very close to MTR (metro) about 1 minute walk. Really suitable for people travelling around China (as we were) and liked to experience different things. I mentioned Breakfast. They said 'No'! HaHa . Plenty of places to eat around (even a Star bucks) the sight at dusk is amazing. Definately worth the experience. Room and bathroom clean. Hari dryer in drawer. Limited toiletries. Take your own. No bar or anything really. Great for a couple of nights. We stayed 3 as was visitng our daughter. -
Classic chinese facade

Quezon City, Philippines | Sep 23, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayLocated in the top tourist spot of suzhou creek, the hotel has the best location in town at very affordable rooms. Rooms are big and you can see the creek across your window. One downside is the room is not heated enough during winter.

Perfect place for a short getaway!

Hong Kong, China | Jan 25, 2026 | Trip type: CouplesWe got the panoramic view room which was on the second floor. The carpet was dirty but everything else was clean. The view of from the balcony made everything worth it.
The staff turned on the AC before we arrived and the room was nice and warm by the time we got there.
The room gets a bit noisy, you can hear everything! It is not just when the music from the bars are playing, you can even hear people talking outside.
The staff is also very friendly. Another bonus is that there is Wifi in our room.
This is not a four star hotel (you are also not paying the price of a four star hotel), so please don't expect a four star hotel. I would treat it as a cute B&B with an amazing location. I would definitely stay there for a short stay in Suzhou! -
Hotel service went down the drain!

Hong Kong, China | Sep 1, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyI stayed here previously and defended this hotel. However, when I went back the second time, I was not impressed anymore. As I said before the carpets are dirty. Well, it got dirtier!
When we to the hotel, the room smelled so bad. The staff said it is coming from the bathroom pipes. We asked to change a room and they said they didn't have anymore rooms. I felt like I slept in a dirty Chinese toilet for my entire trip. My clothes and luggage all smelled so bad afterwards.
I understand that it is not the staff's fault for the pipes, but what really got me annoyed was their attitude. They didn't try to do anything to make the situation better. No apologies, no finding another solution, no perks...
The location is wonderful if you want an authentic Chinese ancient city experience, however I would not go back there after the bad service.
