  Good Hotel in Suzhou ( not new) located in one of Suzhou Central areas. Clean rooms. Supportive staff. Breakfast might be better from foreign people view. Some chairs in breakfast room might be replaced. Welcome drink for members is provided as small beer or coke bottle.

• Nice Holiday Inn at Suzhou

  Very nice hotel with great view. Service is great, Happy Hour and breakfast looks good enough.
  There are subway stations around this hotel.it's nice to walk around this area.
  Will choose here again next time.

• Very new, not close to old town

  This new hotel has great rooms with all the amenities, but it is not close to the old part of town. Breakfast is free and includes a variety of Chineae and Western choices.
  The Internet, as with many hotels in China, is unusable by most apps.
  

• Great Location, near the Metro, attractions and the canal

  I have stayed here several times. The hotel is clean, well staffed and in a good location.
  
  If you take the train from Shanghai just get of at Shi Lu station and its 3-4 minutes walk away. Shi Lu station is 2 stops from the Suzhou railway station
  
  A grocery store (Vanguard) is close by as well as a multitude of shops.
  
  If you want to be close to the canal as well as the famous shopping street, both are very close. In fact you can walk just past the hotel and board the canal boat, one of the old city gates is also close by. The photo attached shows you the canal and gate to give you an idea of how close
  
  The hotel is reasonably priced, well staff and in a great location. The rooms are generally quite large and do offer good value

• unexpected gem in suzhou

  we didn't have high expectations for the hotel, as we had chosen it because it was close to public transport (shi lu metro station). the hotel turned out to be quite the gem. first, it is really close to the metro as we expected, and in fact there were several malls, convenience stores and even a street market in between, so we could always find an atm, grab a quick bite when necessary.
  
  coming in via train from shanghai, it is just two stops away on the metro. if you have just a piece of small luggage, this is quite easy to do. for larger parties or more luggage, just take the taxi. shantang street is also just one metro stop away. great place to spend the late afternoon and evening. lots to see and eat. now that tongli metro station is open, another big plus of being close to the metro is that you can literally ride it all the way to tongli and then buy your tongli watertown tickets at the station (it is discounted there and cheaper than some online ticketing, and it includes a complimentary shuttle bus to the watertown from the metro).
  
  we really only took the taxi once (to tiger hill) because we worked out that it was not well connected to the metro and close enough for a cheap didi ride.
  
  as for the hotel, everything was clean and well appointed. we got a nice large room (probably upgraded) and the bathroom was enormous. standard holiday inn amenities which are not great but we didn't expect more anyway. the air conditioning was decent, a contrast to other hotels in this range in china. bed was super comfy. we swapped out the pillows for contour ones and they were much better. housekeeping was spot on during the few days we stayed here. staff always polite, spoke good english, and professional. by the way, ask for a higher floor, and you'll get a great view of this wonderful city. it is really quite surreal at night to see the traditional houses lit up along the waterways.
  
  there is a starbucks on the ground floor, which is expensive but a life saviour on the one day when it turned really cold and we just didn't want to go anywhere too far for breakfast and coffee.
  
  i'm sure there are plenty of other boutique or chain hotel options, but i can't imagine anyone doing better at this price range, for this convenient location.
