Beautiful on the outside icky on the inside

Denver, Colorado | Nov 4, 2025We were part of a tour when we checked into this hotel. It looks so beautiful from the outside and has a courtyard garden with a moon gate. It is in a nice walk-able area. The quality of the room itself was abysmal. It smelled so badly of smoke it was making us gag. The carpet was heavily stained, the wall paper is peeling off the walls, the bathroom was not clean and WORST OF ALL IT HAD BUGS!!!! I left my slacks over the chair and when I picked them up they were covered with bugs. I tried to brush them off and they stuck to me. I had to wash them off my hands. What a horrible experience. Others in our group reported that their rooms were ok. I can only hope they are remodeling and just hadn't done our room yet.

And we are currently in consideration of refurnishing some of our rooms, which will ensure you a better experience for your next trip here.
We valued all comments from our guests and we would definitely take measures to not only correct the poor performed areas, but also to strengthen areas that we do well.

Singapore | Oct 15, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis is one of a very special design hotel that I ever stayed in China. The property is by a river, Uniquely design in a very large landscape. Unfortunately, the hotel furnishing is rather old. From the carpet, furnishings, etc. Breakfast is good and there are 3 restaurants in the hotel; Chinese, Japanese and Buffet. Staff is very friendly especially Helena at the club lounge. She makes sure the guests are well looked after. Once the hotel is refurbished, it will be one of the best hotels in Suzhou.

Nice and quiet rooms in the „club“ part of the hotel, nice and large traditional garden next to the hotel and at free entry for guests, large pool, 24h Gym access and SPA allows to relax aside of business. The rooms even in the new extension (about 12 years old) need renovation and service standards need improvements (rooms, restaurants..). Even basics for GHA Black member got forgotten.

The picturesque Pan Pacific Suzhou (Suzhou Wugong Fantaipingyang Jiudian) offers easy access to the city's major tourist sites including Taihu Lake, Hanshan Temple and its many classical Chinese gardens, just a 1-hour drive or 30-minute train ride from Shanghai. Designed to reflect the exquisite features of Suzhou's famous gardens this beautiful Suzhou hotel's architecture features sweeping upturned eaves, arched bridges, rushing water and towers. Guests can enjoy free access to the Pan Gate scenic area through the hotel gardens.
