  I have been frequenting this hotel for over 12 Years now. at the time it was the only 5 star hotel in the area. However there are plenty of newer hotels here these days. So why keep going here?? Its simple this hotel has NEVER caused me any grief and so why risk going elsewhere. The Hengfeng is located in the Bao-un district of Shenzhen (About the halfway point between the city centre and the new SZ Airport) . The hotel is 5 Star. The reception staff are efficient. The concierge/ Door staff are a stand out. They are incredibly helpful they go well beyond any others I have come across in all my years of traveling. Whilst it is not a new hotel they have renovated it a few times (probably 3 times ) over the course of the past 10 or so years and so the hotel seems fresh, new and totally up to date (not old and run down). The hotel has a large shopping centre next to it with lots of restaurants where you can pretty much have anything you want from western food to you name it. It even has a Mcdonalds built inside the Hotel itself if that's your bag (Its actually inside the hotel but there are no signs of it from the outside) frankly I don't care much for it and prefer asian food. The hotel also has a massive chinese restaurant on the 5th floor that is also a stand out in terms of quality (but not cheap). On the fourth floor they have a great sauna where you can get a foot rub if that's your thing after a long day.

  What a jewel the HengFeng turned out to be. This hotel offers the first time visitor to China Mainland an excellent opportunity to experience how the Chinese have westernized without sacrificing on the traditional Chinese charm. The staff is well versed in English in general and the rooms are very comfortable. There are both Chinese and Western restaurants and the hotel offers a mall where SPAs and Beauty salons abound. There is also a 7Eleven right across the street and a SOHO pub\discoteque 300m away where those looking to experience the Shenzhen night life can have some fun. The hotel also boasts a business center with internet and printing facilities.

• Nice hotel in ok area

  This hotel is nice for the area, but not as nice in the main financial district of Shenzhen. The rooms are clean and have a good bit of space. The swimming pool is large. The gym is adequate. The hotel lobby tries to be fancier than it is. The know-how of making drinks at the hotel bar isn't up to par. Breakfast is ok. Large selection of ok food. The Japanese restaurant in the mall attached is fantastic. The surrounding area has a few malls and a Starbucks, but that's it. Fine for Westerners of you have business in the area.

  Nice rooms just the street noise was sometimes disturbing.
  The hallways are pretty long, it took a while to get to my room but that isn't an issue actually for me.
  The food in atrium restaurant was good, a large buffet with all kinds of food from different regions.
  The staff was friendly but smiling is not common.

• Great alternative to the big US brands

  This hotel provides a great option to get access to some local flavor with all of the convenience of brands like Marriott, Hilton, and Starwood. The staff speaks excellent English and although the rooms are not as luxurious as the new JW Marriott Shenzhen Bao'an, they match what you would expect to see in a US based business hotel. Internet access is excellent, they offer a varied breakfast buffet, and there are some restaurant options in the hotel itself.
  The best part of staying here is that you feel part of the local neighborhood right as you step out of the front door. Walking just a couple of blocks around the hotel you can experience a western style indoor shopping center, apartment buildings, as well as local shops selling electronics, scooters, and groceries. There are also several very nice dining options nearby that allow you to experience more of the local culture. These aspects made me enjoy this more than staying in the JW Marriott that is in its own little enclave without much around it.
  For the more adventurous who don't mind venturing out into the neighborhood and communicating in a combination of English and a lot of pointing and hand gestures with the convenience of English speaking staff in the hotel itself, the Hengfeng is a great option.
