• Nice Hotel, helpful staffs

  Stayed there for 2 weeks. Reached after midnight and they checked me in quite quickly. Nice spacious room, well equipped bathroom. Only problem was the Air-conditioning was not working properly initially. But problem resolved very soon once I reported that to the front office.Very helpful staffs. Good location, there is a shopping mall just at the other side of the road. There are few other local markets within a walking distance. Will like to stay here in my next visit.

  It's a nice hotel with big rooms, good service but with an antique finishing that needs updating asap. Breakfast is fine for westerns too, my only concern was the AC units were not well controllable in the rooms, either on or off, and a bit noisy.

  Kirin Parkview (which is now changing it's name to 'Venus something or rather) is pretty good for a mainland China hotel and is close to reasonable shops and restaurants.
  The PROs for me were :-
  1. The Kirin had smoke free floors & rooms which actually appeared to be just that rather than some other China hotels where smoke free means they rush up to the room and take out the ashtrays (really - I am not joking about this). I detest the terrible cigarettes the Chinese seem to smoke and is one of the big hates I have to business trips to China.
  2. Air conditioning that works. I visited in August and it's muggy and hot and many other hotels either can't get the temperature below 26C and/or (even worse) turn it off in the middle of the night forcing you to open windows and get eaten my Chinese mosquitoes. No problems at the Kirin and I had great night's sleep every night. I big plus when you have hit the ground running with work and a big jet lagged to boot.
  3. Hotel is quiet.
  The CONs for me were :-
  1. Hotel facilities are not as advertised. For example, they say they have snooker tables at the hotel. This is not true.
  2. Not really a business hotel as can be crowded during holiday times. To be fair this is a big property so it mostly shows in the morning buffet breakfast. Chinese go totally mental at buffets and we ended up adjusting our breakfast time to miss the madness.
  3. The facilities in the room are big bare. Only 2 water bottles per day. Nothing in the fridge.
  4. Internet appears to be cable only and is pretty slow. Also is not VPN'ed to Hong Kong (or where-ever) so many sites (such as google services) are blocked by the Great Firewall of China. Again this is atypical of a business hotel. Actually, this didnt bother me too much (aside from the speed) as I have VPNs which I could hook up to anyway.
  Despite these short comings I would stay again due to the sleep comfort, lack of smoke and quiet during night.

  If you are in this area the hotel is a nice haven from the streets outside. It's a nice hotel in very grand scale, you will notice this from the lobby. This was my 2nd stay here and again was impressed by the comfortable large rooms. Was disappointed there is no iron in the room however not ideal when living out of a suit case.
  We arrive late and could only get food at the bar, I had a club sandwich was was average to say the least.

  I stayed here in business for 5 nights, unfortunately the weather was terrible when i stayed one of the worst typhoons to hit shenzhen in many years so there was one day i was hotel bound. The hotel has lots of facilities incl swimming pool gym etc. There is a western restaurant in the hotel that served nice food. There is also western food on the room service menu which was ok. The rooms were very spacious, clean, nice decor and had a feeling of luxury. The bathrooms had all the facilities you would need. Beds were comfortable. The desk in the room helped so i could get plenty of work done. Rooms were quiet i didnt have a problem with noise. Some of the staff could speak english and there was 1 english guy who worked in reception aswell. The location of the hotel is great its just over the road the shopping centre thats full of restaurants too which i did eat in on a few nights.
