  It wasn't like what I expected it to be. The rooms were small & old. To top it even the local can driver had trouble looking for the place. My first night was horrible--the bed was hard and it made squeaky sound when you move. When you lie on ur side of the bed you face the toilet--which is only a curtain away!!! The aircorn was like a blower. Everything has a price tag to it-- from toothbrush to drinking water. Never the less, the staff were helpful. Location was great-just a couple of bus stops to the main places. Each bus ride is only RMB2 y. Very convient. There's a 24hr restaurant n KFC opposite the hotel. 5mins walk is where Carrefour is. Plenty of noodles shop around, including alittle cozy cafe next to a fruit shop. So if you are looking for a budget stay in shenzhen-this mayb your pick

  I stayed at this hotel for a few weeks and found it to be really quite excellent. The staff are very helpful, the amenities are fine, especially for the price. It is not so close to the subway, but the cabs come along fairly frequently. The room itself is comfortable - large bed, nice bathroom. Great overall considering the price

  Located around 10 minutes fast walk from the Laojie main train hub and about 25 minutes from the Hong Kong border ( or 2 short metro stops), along 2 boulevards.
  Numerous eateries, banks and commercial facilities all around. Opposite KFC and other fast foods but I found a great family cafe well behind KFC which provided me with a large egg-veg-noodle soub bowl for around £1.60 and all the Chinese tea I wanted (typical).
  Agoda got me a great internet deal, which I extended for another week when my 3rd hotel was cancelled without my knowledge. This walk-in price was a fair bit more at about £13.50 a night.
  Staff had minimal English and Pinyin - and no computer or internet facilities.
  No breakfast or victuals were provided which didn't bother me as the 2 most expensive hotels I have visited had pretty dire breakfasts and appalling scrambled eggs!
  The room was basic but sufficient. UK style shaver sockets were provided but unlike the more expensive plugs they did not offer other UK sockets.
  Excellent TV offering but the TV would switch itself off temporarily after a while.
  I noticed that the main fire exit was padlocked at night whilst the alternate was exit only.
  Adequate air-con during the cool climate spell.
  Hotel situated on floors above a very helpful Chinese bank.
  Great value all round and much cheaper than our normal UK hostel dorms accommodation.

  The garden inn is very suitable if you plan to just stop over in the city of Shenzhen before leaving for elsewhere. The rooms are adequately clean, though very dark. Wifi is advertised, though in our experience, non-existent. The staff are helpful, though the place is fairly empty.
  This is probably because of the location. On an outer bypass style road, there is very little of interest close by, though it is near to the border crossing (thus its merits as a stopover place). Should you be stopping at Shenzhen as a first port of call for a trip through China (as we were), then this hostel is not for you. It is very hard to begin to imagine yourself moving forward due to the language barrier that is strong here in comparison to other hostels in the city, and the lack of other residents with which you might talk and learn about the area.
  A good hostel in terms of functionality, but a bad hostel for those seeking a comfortable, long term experience.

  The Garden Inn is modest and inexpensive (under Y 200/nt or about $30) on floors 5 and 6 of a safe building. Clean, A/C (a good thing as it was 30 degrees), in good neighborhood. Upstairs is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city(Summer Teahouse) with a bank on the main floor. Carrefour grocery store is a block away. Also couple blocks to the great Metro which I learned to take all over the city. Check out OCT arts area and Luohu Port shopping complex (where the really low prices and tailors are).
