Does the job, gym, room service all adequate
holidayboffins
Oct 21, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessSizeable hotel in Hongqiao - I booked it because it was convenient for where I would be working.
The hotel itself is fine - all the mod cons you would expect from an international hotel, helpful staff, clean etc. Decent room service menu and good buffet breakfast with eggs cooked to order and a mix of healthy stuff and fried breakfast. Can't really say I had any complaints about the room or the service.
I booked a taxi via the concierge on my first day which turned out to be circa 5x the cost of waiting outside and hailing a cab. Clearly this requires you to have the name of the place you are going written out in Chinese which takes a bit of planning (which the concierge helped me out with on day 2!).
On day 3 I realised the subway was about a 2 minute walk up the road and a daily ticket is 180 yuan, so I ended up using that to get into town - line 10 goes to the railway station, xintiandi, nanjing road (nr the bund) and yu garden - and is probably safer than taxis.
I used the gym a couple of times and it was great - enough machines not to have to queue.
All in all, fine and no complaints. -
Great location!

New Delhi | Oct 21, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe stayed at this hotel for a week this week! It's got a great location 5 mins from the Nanjing East walking street which is the heart of the shopping district! The premium rooms are good and the hotel lobby is great but don't opt for the smoking floor even by mistake! Guaranteed to choke you! I'd asked for it n stayed in a room for one night! Had to shift out of that floor! The hotel really needs to do some air cleansing there else can be a serious health issue fr someone! The staff is great n helpful n English is not too much of a problem! But the housekeeping really needs to improve ! I found a pc of cheese under my sofa! Also the main door which wld not shut took 3 days to replace after repeated complaints ! Barring this, overall a good experience! The breakfast is great but get it included along with the wifi, which is at a crazy price of 600 yuans a day, when u do the booking! Can't understand why the wifi can be so expensive in today's age n time! It shld be free!! Wld repeat a stay here because of its great location!!

Very Lovely Hotel and Great Location
Ourlabradoodles
British Columbia | Sep 29, 2025 | Trip type: FamilySadly I was not well in Shanghai but if you are going to be sick this was a lovely place to do it. The room was beautiful and the bathroom stellar. (I got to know the bathroom very well)
When I recovered we found the location perfect for walking and seeing the city.
The Japanese restaurant had really nothing to do with the hotel but it is in the hotel and over priced with no ambiance...I would give that a miss. The buffet breakfast upstairs was perfect. Would go back. -

Holland | Sep 28, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessNice place to stay, clean and up to date. A great place to stay. Most of the staff speaks English. walking distance to the pearl city, and just a short way from the zoo. Good food at the hotel and sports bar. 9/21-9/26/2015.

Very nice property in Shanghai...

Minneapolis, Minnesota | Sep 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessBefore coming to Shanghai I read many other travelers reviews to get a sense of what my stay might be like. Throughout my eight night stay, my experience matched the better of the reviews I read. To put this review in some perspective, I am a Marriott rewards member, have stayed at numerous Marriott properties over the past 20 years and was upgraded to the executive level during my stay. I thought this Marriott property was on par with the better Marriott properties I have stayed at over the years. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was in tip top shape, the executive lounge was well equipped and the staff throughout the hotel were polite, attentive and very responsive with no exceptions.
There was easy access to shopping and restaurants within a 10 minute walk to Pearl City Mall and Laowai Street. Other restaurants were close by such as Bubba's Texas BBQ just beyond the Marriott parking lot where you can get a great wagyu burger, ribs or brisket. If you're wanting to stay on the property to eat and like me have no Chinese language skills, I would recommend sticking with the hotel restaurant or the steakhouse. The Chinese restaurant on the second level had great food although we had to struggle through the language barrier with no English speakers on staff that night. For me this was more my issue as the hotel provided multiple other options. It's not to say don't eat at Tang's, but if you choose to go I'd recommend bringing your Chinese-English dictionary.
This is not a property to stay at if you want and need to be close to the Shanghai city center, but I would not hesitate staying here again when traveling to Shanghai.
