Nice interior, but terrible location in a sketchy part of town
CanadianTravelFriend
Shanghai, China | Jul 5, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe interior of this hotel is great. The rooms are very clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet is very nice, very eclectic. The issue, as others have stated before, is the location. Taxiing into the city will run you over $30 USD one way, and taking the subway is maybe 60 minutes+ to the city centre (including walking time to the station from the hotel). Another thing worth noting is that the little shops and restaurants around the hotel seem to be very geared towards cheating non-Chinese patrons, so you'll have to be extra vigilant. Even the Q-Store (a convenience store chain) inside the hotel tried to run up the price on me. Overall, I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have commitments in the area.

Faraway from downtown

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia | Jul 4, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel was well appointed but relatively far from downtown. The room was very comfortable and very clean. At $60 + tax a night (booked on Agoda) it was good value for money. Breakfast was good but the coffee shop nothing special.

On businessman

Jun 2, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessNice hotel, kind staff. Breakfast could be much better. Really far away from downtown Shanghai, there was a mistake with the reservation and my company booked this hotel instead than the howard johnson in downtown shanghai. You need at least one hour by metro to reach the financial district, and you need a taxi to reach the closest metro station. No prostitutes around and clean, wide rooms

Well used hotel
faithandhope2live
Canada | Jun 7, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis is a well used hotel, because lots of tour groups use this hotel. That does not mean the front desk service was good. But I do appreciate the lady that cleaned our room walked an extra mile to help me fix my shoe, and didn’t look for any tips.
Location of the hotel is in a residential area. It is a good opportunity to mingle with the locals.
Across the street of the hotel is a park. It is good for a stroll and watching the locals enjoy a social dance in the park after work. What a wonderful way to relax.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The first day buffet breakfast, we had to quickly grab food and tables competing with other over 100 tourists. So the next day we went 40 minutes late, there were no tourists and also no food. The kitchen didn’t cook to fill up the dishes. The third day we went to KFC. They served a yummy Chinese style breakfast and we only paid 20% of what the hotel charged us.

Not recommanded, bad location, staff not friendly at all, very poor experience.

Somerset, New Jersey | May 6, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyOur group stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a 7 days China tour. Non of the air conditioners in our rooms were working. The temperature inside the rooms were 27 to 29'C, very uncomfortable. Request to non smoking room and deodorizing the smoking odor were not honored. The bed sheets have holes on it. There was not enough food at breakfast buffet, have empty trays all the time. Restaurant staff were very rude and lazy. The hotel is far from major attracations.
