Relax place
AliceWanHongKong
Hong Kong | May 31, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessTake taxi from pudong airport to the hotel around 45 minutes and RMB140. Actually, the hongiao airport is more close to the hotel. Hotel room is clean. I book the hotel with breakfast, and the breakfast is good. Free Wifi.

Perfect place to relax in Shanghai
SingaporeMatt
Singapore | Apr 22, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI first visited this hotel in 2007 and had good memories of the hotel and its environment. In 2014, everything is even better.
This hotel is a bit far out of the center of town, but located right next to the Botanic Gardens, which in the last eight years have gone from 'mediocre' to must see.
From walking in the door to checking out, the experience is more like a five star experience - friendly and efficient service, great decor, comfortable bed, excellent facilities. Breakfast could be improved (eg. coffee)
The surrounding environment in Baise Road has also gone upmarket, with many good restaurants and even a cat cafe.
I highly recommend to stay in this hotel. -
Great Place if you need to be nearby
BlahnikA
Shenzhen, China | Apr 6, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessIf you happen to have work somewhere in the area its a good hotel to stay at. The rooms are clean and hotel staff is helpful but the hotel isn't really near anything at all so if you are going to visit Shanghai better stay closer to the city. As a bonus you can also go into the park behind for free.

Beautiful Surroundings, Older Buildings

Melbourne, Australia | Apr 16, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe stayed here on a recent trip and enjoyed the quiet this hotel offered. It was relatively close to the airport (about 1 hour by taxi) and close to the Shanghai South Railway Station (about 10 minutes by taxi).
- The hotel is next door to the Botanical Gardens, there are trees and birds everywhere, loads of greenery, and an entrance to the gardens from the hotel (although we couldn't figure out how to get through the gate)
- Great Breakfast (although we booked a villa for 3 people, we only had 2 included breakfasts, so we had to pay for the third)
- We stayed in a villa, which was great, 2 bedroom, kitchen, dining room, tv room, 2 bathroom and a laundry.
- Check in staff were fantastic, had us checked in and in our rooms in about 10 minutes.
- Chinese restaurant was fantastic.
What we didn't like about this hotel?
- One of the beds in the villa was really hard (but that's often the case with Chinese beds).
- The fridge in the villa didn't work
- Only 2 breakfasts were included in a 3 person room (as per above)
- Not a lot of restaurants in the nearby area
- Whilst the reception area was gorgeous, the villa itself was a little run down
- Business centre staff didn't speak a lot of English, they booked tickets for our train trip the next day, but it was hard work.
Overall, a recommended hotel, particularly if you're flying into Shanghai and planning on taking a train out (from the Southern Station) the next day. Also great if you're looking for somewhere to base yourself whilst exploring Shanghai, particularly as a family group, as the villas are gerat value. -
location is the big problem

perth | Nov 4, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe service was pleasant, especially the young lads in the cafe, but the location is awful. the hotel is off the beaten track. in good traffic it takes 30 mins to get to any of the city sights and much longer during rush hour. There is one cafe nearby but otherwise this is a residential area. The grounds are quite nice, with fish ponds, a nice walkway, greenery and birds around but this can't make up for the bad location. The rooms are old and tired although the bed was fine and clean. I would not stay again although those visiting Shanghai who want to get away from it all may like this hotel.
