Cheap and central.

Jul 3, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThe service is good, cleaning and reception. By the way, the rooms are really outdated: never been to a so vintage room lol. The furniture is essential but useful, the bathroom is clean (and this is the important thing) but essential and really old. They change daily towels and stuff.
The windows are too thin, so if you have a light sleep, avoid: too much noise coming from the streets, plus if you are a smoker, they can't open (slide) more than about 20cm (quite challenging if you don't want smoke indoor). TV is a big good lcd. Good quality restaurant.
A huge struggle is the WiFi. It works at times (stuttering) in the room, even if the signal is good (on both laptop and mobile phone).
Tomorrow I'll ask if they have aviable a more recent room and if yes edit or make another review. -
good one

Ankara, Turkey | Nov 5, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessOverall, this is good value hotel with quite cheap rates. It has many problems however these should be expected considering that you don't pay much at all. The entrance of the hotel looks quite rich, I believe that's why we forget how much we payed, and then were surprised when we found some of the services lacking.
Location: The hotel is very near Tongji University, where we had meetings. So it is a good choice if you're in Shanghai for business related to the University. But even if you're not, the metro station is right next to the hotel, and it is very very easy to access any part of the town. Near the hotel there are many affordable and good restaurants, but do not expect much of a nightlife.
Breakfast: Awful and you need to pay extra for it! Very few choices, especially if you want the comfort of a European/Continental breakfast, and believe me you will! The breakfast room is very crowded and smelly. I wouldn't suggest you eat at the hotel, unless you absolutely have to.
Rooms: Decoration is ok, beds were comfortable and overall we had a comfortable stay. However, the windows do not close properly so you need to get used to noise. The weather was really nice when we were there, but if you stay in winter, this insulation problem might make you quite cold I'm afraid. If you are a non smoker, well, China is more liberal on smoking, and you will occasionally smell the smoke from other rooms.
Bathroom: Quite old looking, but not in a traditional, "Oh! how romantic!" kind of old. Just plain ugly, not renovated, and not very clean kind of old. No hair dryer! We asked for one, and received a very old, half broken down but working one (probably the only one in the hotel)
Service: The staff is helpful and nice.
Wifi: Doesn't really work in the rooms, even though they claim it does. You need to sit down on certain specific spots in the lobby for good access. Though I find that fast and easy access is always a problem when your in China, so be prepared. -
Terrible staff and hotel policies

Coloorado | May 15, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessEven though I had a reservation for 4 nights at this hotel, when I arrived at 7pm from the airport (after a 17 hour flight) I was told they had given my room away at 6pm. This was despite the reservation being made by the director at Tongji University. Apparently they needed payment for the room by 4pm even though this was never communicated, nor was it mentioned in my reservation form.
For some reason all other hotels were full too, so we ended up at a motel that was even worse (that will be in a different review). We were able to come back the following day and have our room for 3 nights. They claim to have internet, but it hardly ever works, even in the lobby. It is nearly impossible to find a staff member who speaks english so you cannot get any help with anything, including trying to get a taxi. The windows are paper thin so you hear street noise all night long. At least the bed was not as rock hard as the one at the motel. The bathroom is horribly outdated. All and all, extremely disappointed and would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is fine if you are attending meetings at the University but it is far from any sights and any one who may possibly speak english. Hotel seems to mostly cater to Chinese folks, They charge $5 for a Cappuccino, very excessive for a low-class hotel, but even if it was an ok price, it was simply a watered down coffee with a bit of foam.
