  I stay at the New Century Grand Hotel when I travel for business that is close to the hotel. If you are traveling to Shanghai for holiday and want to check out downtown Shanghai I suggest you stay somewhere close to downtown. The rooms are rather nice and are a good size. Bathrooms are well-appointed and look nice. The breakfast buffet here is one of the best I've had in Asia; they have a lot of variety and the western dishes are relatively close to what they should be. There is a shopping mall that is semi-attached to the hotel that has a lot of shops and restaurants. The airport and downtown Shanghai are about 1 hour away by taxi so be aware if that is where you want to be.

  This hotel is in the industrial area of Shanghai in Songjiang and it takes nearly one hour from PVG international airport by a cab. And Shanghai city center is also nearly
  one hour drive by a cab from this hotel. Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) airport is 30 mins from this hotel and is connected to most destination in Mainland China,

  This hotel is very nice, spacious room, etc. It's a long way from Pu Dong (PVG), my cab ride was well over an hour, luckily my business contacts set up the cab since I'm not sure I'd have ever been able to explain to the cab driver. My only real complaint is a big one, the wifi was very slow and difficult. My day job doesn't stop when I'm on biz travel so solid internet is a must for me. The hotel is nicer than average, for me it was knocked down to that with my wifi struggles.

  The New Century Hotel is located on the outskirts of Shanghai, near an industrial zone. The ride on the highway from HongQiao Airport takes +/- one hour and not 20 minutes as specified in the hotel advertisement. Hotel guests arre are business travellers, as it is not suitable for Shanghai tourists.
  The hotel has over 450 rooms which are large with about 400 sqft. The beds are comfortable. WiFi worked well. The bathroom was big and clean, equipped with shower cabin and bath tub. The breakfast buffet is big and rich, but the offer was not of convincing quality. Most of it was oily food. There was hardly any fruit. The China restaurant in the hotel was a fiasco. In the adjacent shopping centre are better food options at reasonable prices. A Tesco supermarket is available.
  I had an Executive room on the 25th floor which costs RMB 200.- more. Access to be Executive Lounge is given. The lounge was empty, no drinks, and no appetizers were served. I was wondering what did justify the additional USD 30.-. My protest gave a voucher for two cans of Coke from the minibar! When staying in this hotel, my recommendation is for standard rooms, as the additional fee for an executive room is totally unjustified.
