Good hotel for a short stay in Shanghai
Seraina_Seraina
Aug 2, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThe rooms are not very clean and quite old. Unfortunately, the bathroom has a big window and the roller blind doesn't help a lot. They offer free WIFI which worked well. The breakfast is good with a big choice of Chinese food.

Location, location, location
Bob L
Exeter, United Kingdom | Nov 1, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyI liked other New century hotels elsewhere in the past as well as the central location, thinking this will be a good choice. Regret it the moment my taxi stopped at the entrance. Where shall I start?
Good points are location, location, and location. This location is also a disadvantage.
What a neighbourhood, it feels like a bombing site (the taxi driver said the government has bought it, making a garden for future land reserves, howvere it is gastly for now). However, it is perfect safe and easy to get anywhere, only a few minutes walk to Xinzha tube station on line 1. You can get to most attractions in Puxi within 30 minutes. Taxi is easy to find outside the hotel.
Reception is ok, not so friendly as one would expect from New Century Hotels chains.
Room service are excellent, I asked for a socket, within minuts I got it.
Bed is comfortable, but furnitures are tacky, the decoration is tired, room needs a facelift.
TV remote control is not working properly.
Breakfast is ok. The idea of displaying fake fruits alongside real ones is beyond my understanding (although it does say they are not for you to eat). -
Thumbs up for the staff, thumbs down for the hotel

Vienna, Austria | Nov 19, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI have stayed luckily just one night in this hotel, which is about 30 min drive from Hongqiao and 60 min from Pudong airport away. You can reach the most things like Bund or inner city within 15 minutes drive and the cab cost is about 20 RMB for each destination, what is quite cheap.
The surrounding there is very bleak as well the vista is too. For one business night okay, but not the best spot to start your honeymoon.
The lobby looks nice and the staff tried to help as far as they could all the time for all kinds of questions which was the biggest plus point. With a kind smile I was allowed to check out 2 hours later. Further more a second room card for uninterrupted electricity was handed over and last but not least they organized a cab to drop me at the airport. Thumbs up for the staff!
The elevator is very fast, but in the rush hour you have to be a bit patient.
The rooms size is okay, the bath room is a little bit tiny and with a glass front to the room, which can be covered according to your preference. The room all over looks hard used/worn out. Looking at the wardrobes and the carpets you think you have landed in a maximum 2 star place.
One more positive experience was the water temperature and the water pressure which were absolutely satisfying.
The quality of the mattress was okay and the sleeping quality would have been perhaps good if the place wouldn't have been such loud from the neighborhood and traffic.
The fact I couldn't close my window completely, because the window frame didn't fit the window anymore, didn't support the plan to reduce the noise level at all.
The free internet connection you can forget, both the Ethernet and wireless one. Better you be prepared to get there no i-net connection. My provided speed has been between 4 and 6 kb/s, what was really annoying.
The breakfast was terrible. The smell at the buffet killed your hunger in a reliable way. The size of the selection was okay, but the available things didn't make the impression as they wanted to be eaten. To be fair I have to say that I am not a big fan from Chinese food as presented there, even I love Asian food since I live in Asia for more than one decade.
I can't give a recommendation to stay at this hotel and without the always hard trying staff it would have been a very disappointing experience. -
No, just no.

Atlanta, Georgia | Oct 20, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayMost rooms are smoking rooms.
The neighborhood isn't the greatest but not un-safe.
Actually a fairly central location with short and cheap taxi rides to everywhere in the city.
If you do not speak mandarin the hotel can not communicate with you for any service.
Breakfast buffet is not so great but dinner is better.
Room trim had mold and stains all over it.
Had cards for female prostitutes slipped in my room every night.
Would not recommend this hotel again. -
Bad Airconditioning

Jaipur, India | May 24, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe Hotel has not so good Neighbourhood. So you first Impression is not good. The Lobby Looks good but does not have adequate space to sit. Its a Big Hotel. In May 2014 renovation was on. Hence noise in Lobby in day time. Staff was cooperative but dont understand English and hence lot of miscommunication happens and hence service drops. Smiling in Hospitality business in china is a issue, except the Guides. The most important problem with hotel is that they switch off the Air conditioning. Its done to save cost under pretext of Maintenance or Govt Order or Management order. You have control in Rooms but the tempearture is set to a sweaty 26 - 27 Degress. It does not work and it feels like hell in the rooms. Rooms are nice with all facilities. They seriously need to look in Air conditioning. Second problem is that they dont have good wifi in Lobby. No wifi in rooms. Only wired internet is good in rooms. No wifi in roosm even if you want to Pay. They need to come out of ages. Breakfast si goo dbut equipemnts are less (like Toaster). The refilling is generally slow. As business hotel you have to be on toes. The Location in respect to Bund and Nanjing road is good.
