Convenient option for stay in Shanghai
Bharatvijay
Sep 13, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel is conveniently located near a metro station, and in close proximity to several shopping centers and malls. It also overlooks chihuahua Xujiahui Park, and is walking distance from the largest pub street in Shanghai. In terms of amenities, it offers everything a business traveler would need - WiFi, spacious rooms, good breakfast (even for foreigners) and some of the staff can communicate effectively in English.
I stayed there twice, for a combined 4 weeks in total. Would recommend! -
Good for the Price, Don't Expect Much

Shanghai, China | Nov 11, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesFor starters the location of this Hotel was key for my 5 night stay. Located 10-15 minute walk from XuJiaHui (BuyNow, Grand Gateway) and about 8-10 minute walk away from HengShan Lu Subway stop on line 1. The staff are friendly depending on who you may get. A couple of the staff were not so helpful/impolite, but during check out the two girls at the counter were very nice.
The Room- well the room was fine I'd give it a rating of 7/10, BUT the biggest issue was the carpeted floor was very old showing a good number of what looked like soda/red wine stains. The size of the room was very nice, Superior Queen Bed. Bathroom was also spacious with a bathtub that could fit my 6'0" height comfortably. So in a nutshell, don't pay attention to the floor and you'll be pleased. As for breakfast/restaurant..... We never went. With Grand Gateway so close to walk my guest and I enjoyed eating at the Element Fresh located there. -
Need renovation

Singapore, Singapore | Oct 24, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe Wanping hotel was, and maybe is, owned by the tax authority. It has a spartan, stringent, and formal feel. The property was, and possibly is, meant primarily for Chinese travellers, although breakfast has western options.
It is a 4-star property, and thus choice is limited. Yet, the bigger need is renovation, from the English letters on the façade to the bathrooms, and most urgently, to the gym. The machines are ancient, causing irritation and possibly injury. My muscles were super sore. Also, the lifts are snail slow.
There are, however, a plethora of options on the spa menu. I went for a Chinese massage. Initially the receptionist was disappointingly unethical. She decided to show me only the more expensive choice, forgetting that President Xi has forbidden corruption. With some prodding, she eventually showed me all. I went for the higher priced one; it was not bad. Two years ago, my therapist wore a knock-off Singapore Airlines flight attendant uniform, which was exotic, but it may have given the wrong impression: Welcome to the mile high club! Now, the therapist wore a blouse and skirt: making it like a formal in-office treatment. Government excess - gifting - is being well tamed! -
Good stay

Toronto | Jan 2, 2026 | Trip type: CouplesWe were there for 3 nights in the December. At the time, it was quite cold in Shanghai, so the heat, comfortable blankets and decent hot water pressure were all welcome.
The room comes w/ small perks including combs, q-tips, body lotion, slippers, robes, 2 bottles of complimentary water each day and a safe. The safe didn't work at first due to low battery, but we mentioned this to concierge and they had this fixed.
Location wise it suited us quite well, and is about a 5-10 min walk to Xujiahui station.
The things we weren't so fond of about the hotel were that the washroom looked a bit old, only had a stationary shower head, and wasn't designed very well in my opinion, in terms of placement of towels, and areas to hang clothes. A second thing was that there was only wifi in the lobby, and although it was a quite large lobby, there was limited seating to only 6 people. It also bothered us that they did not enforce non-smoking rules.
Overall, we felt it was a good stay, and hopefully if they implement a few changes, would consider staying there again.
ps. I think they actually brand themselves Wanping Hotel on site. -
Decent room in a good location

California | May 20, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyI prepaid for a Parkview non-smoking room and stated clearly that I need a non-smoking room as I was travelling with a three-year-old. However, when I checked in I was informed that they ran out of non-smoking room (poor planning on their part). They upgraded me to the executive room, which has very modern and nice decor, the mattress and linens were very nice. The only aspects that I didn't like about the room is its extremely tiny bathroom (so tight that we couldn't have more than one adult standing inside the bathroom) and the very thin wall (could hear almost every word that my neighbors said to each other at 12:30am!). Breakfast is very chinese style with limited western choices, but the spread was decent. The lobby is more like a three-star hotel but since we only stayed for the evenings, it didn't matter too much.
