Stayed for a night in this hotel. Location is perfect! Food..Shopping..Metro station located right outside the doorstep of this hotel.. Hotel outlook kinda old, room is clean, bed is comfortable. Breakfast is serve at the 6th or 7th floor of the hotel, breakfast is frugal but delicious. Taxi easily available but traffic not very good as the road outside this hotel is busy..Recommended for business or tourist.

Yes, this is a business hotel and no more. Everything is clean, room is big and noise level remain okay for the whole night. We can get a good sleep there. Price is a bit high but is understandable regarding the location that this hotel has.
The location is good, in the middle of city so is easy to reach everywhere you want.
The only thing that trouble us is Internet connection. It is the normal phenomenon in the whole China. Is so bad and unstable....if you really need to work through Internet. Get a VPN! Is a must. Otherwise you cannot get through all the thing that you need. Dropbox, Google and Gmail....that is killing for business travelers. But this is China! Right?

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during business trip. The location is perfect. The subway station is just in front of the hotel and 2 stations away from the People Square, 4 stations from Lujiazui where the famous Oriental Pearl Tower is located. The room was clean, the staffs were helpful and can speak English well. Highly recommended!!
Smart Budget Hotel for HuaiHai, Shanghai

At motel rates, don't expect the Ritz and enjoy its prime location.
Right Place- In the middle of HuaiHai Road, it is at the heart of Shanghai's main retail district. There's a Starbucks right on the ground floor, a small supermarket in the Parkson's across the street and shopping malls all around.
Right Room- The facility is currently being refreshed but they've put their money in the right things. The flatscreen TVs are up to date and they have a few more English language channels than other hotels in the vicinity. The WiFi signal is strong in the room and other public areas in the facility. The beds and pillows are comfortable and contrary to other reviews, their air-conditioning while not new works great.
A few caveats- This hotel is really geared more for local tourists and is in a relatively old building so you have to manage expectations.
For example, on the late night shift, the front desk clerk may not speak English fluently. The gym doesn't have a latest equipment but it is practically open 24/7 if you want to use it.
At the breakfast buffet, instead of a cheese selection of brie and camembert, it's a pack of sliced cheese. Iced milk means it is watered down. But it also means enjoying freshly made noodle and dimsum soup every morning.
After living in a place for half a year, you really get to know it. Slept well every night and enjoyed breakfast every morning I was there. Wouldn't mind staying there again.

We have stayed at the Mason hotel several times over the last 2 years.
it is very good location for a) shopping located on Hua Hui Middle Rd it is right in the middle of some of Shanghais best shopping.
b) location Metro line 1 Shaanxi rd statiom is within 50mts and Line 10 200mts and in the french concession area.
Rooms are decent size and always clean, service is good. the breakfast is average at best.
Starbucks are right next door.
Cost is reasonable overall we keep going back as good value for location.
