Bucharest, Romania | Oct 1, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesGreat room in good location with excellent breakfast. Would recommend staying here as best hotel we experienced in China. Nice restaurant at end of street called Garlic. Multiple restaurants close by. In very quite area of French concession.

Oasis at the end of the day
Dorothy Louise S
Steamboat springs | Sep 1, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyOur room was large and comfortable. There are nice street to walk in the French Concession. Our room was great however, one couple in our party was not in the main building and complained that the room was dirty and not nice. This is a big wedding hotel so we came back in the afternoon and the hotel was all decked out for a wedding.

Difficult to review because of One fatal flaw
DohaInternational
Doha, Qatar | Aug 25, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI actually liked this hotel quite well. The room was large and the bed comfortable. The location was good and the generally the staff were helpful I did have one incident when a front desk staff refused to serve me and I beleive because I was a westerner. The hotel is fairly new and the location is quite good in the French Concession near a subway stop. The morning breakfast is generally good and has a range of western and Chinese food. The restaurant served only Chinese meals as did the Noble House Restaurant on the same site. If you fancy tripe, a baked turtle in shell, abalone, or other such fare then you will be okay. Luckily there are numouerous restauants and small variety stores nearby. The one fatal flaw for me was the restaurant served Shark Fin Soup. I mentioned this as an issue and they were aware of the concern. The waiter said they would address it but I know they had no intention of doing so.

A great place to come back to at the end of the day

New York City, New York | Jun 20, 2025There are plenty of places to stay in Shanghai so why should you come here? Firstly the neighborhood: its a real neighborhood, not trapped in the skyscraper jungle in Pudong or the malls and craziness closer to the center of town...a real neighborhood where real people live, two blocks from Hengshan Road metro station. And it's pretty and leafy, low key. Staff is helpful, sweet, even if English isn't their strong suit (download a dictionary and/or translation app, necessary for shanghai anyway). Even breakfast is decent but there is a cafe for morning coffee nearby at Wulumuxi and Yongjia road if you hate hotel breakfasts. A nice healthy walk to central french concession and all the fancy shops, or dapuqiao and tianzifang. Plenty of cool restaurants nearby, Chinese and otherwise. I stayed in a couple of different rooms and both times beds were great, firm, with soft high thread count sheet bathroom was also fine, with little shampoos and thingies that maybe you forgot to pack, staff replenishes water bottles daily. Nice big umbrellas for borrowing when it rains. Sloping green grounds behind the front gate and a solemn uniformed man standing guard who salutes everyone who walks past. Fancy restaurant next door. Some people have mentioned a slow internet connection, I did not really find this, also important to remember that certain web sites wont load in china

Not very welcoming of children, great restaurant at end of street
Fufay
Ireland | Jun 14, 2025Clean, good location. Nice gardens. Breakfast sufficient. We travelled with 2 young children. Our son who is 3.5 years was called naughty by staff member because he was running (not in anyone's way or making noise) in the reception area as we checked in. Very much felt children were to be seen and not heard for entire stay!
Would recommend it to others but maybe not if you have small children.
If you do stay then I recommend you eat in place down the road called Garlic. It is Turkish restaurant and is fabulous! When you go out hotel gate turn left and it is at end of street across the road - doesn't look much from outside but well worth a visit!
