• Nice Hotel , but some issues

  If you like freezing cold air conditioning that won’t switch off and cannot be adjusted , try this hotel. Seriously. I had to have maintenance come to my room twice to fix the "possessed" thermostat that could not be switched off, and which pumped out freezing cold air no matter what temperature it was set to.
  I called the front desk for the second needed fix because the problem occurred again, and they suggested sending me a heater. Great idea. It is fun to have two climate control systems fighting each other for temperature supremacy!
  The room was otherwise nice, but getting stuff like climate control correct is pretty basic. Sheesh. Additionally the internet WIFI in the room was horrible and unstable. It was fine in the lobby, but I don’t do conference calls there.
  The hotel is nicely appointed and the room was fine. The gym is very good.
  The buffet in the ground floor restaurant was large but also really had almost nothing I wanted to eat. Same story at breakfast.
  Overall, not a great choice.

  Very large lobby and friendly reception staff. Efficient check in and room upgrade for platinum members, although no free lounge access. Nice bar area. Rooms a bit dated, but very functional when on business. Nice linens ad towels etc, as you would expect from Crowne Plaza. Good aircon. Breakfast excellent, with European and Asian options. Fresh salads too. Not very near the Bund, but only 30 mins and a cheap taxi fare away. (There is a guy employed right outside the hotel with his own seat if you are inclined to want a guest for the evening). Bar food is frankly awful!

  In Shanghai in French Connection. 400 Pan
  yum road for the beginning of a gate 1
  Travel tour. Have to say it was a
  Wise Choice! The hotel Is located in a safe environment with a small store across Street for necessities, water, etc.
  The breakfast buffet is wonderful with Western and Chinese choices available. The room was spacious by all standards and hot water And cold air. The lounge was a bit price $19 for a glass of Chardonnay
  But there are a few reasonably priced eateries Near by. Try the "tipsy Fiddler" Irish
  Pub Around the Corner. Great Food and happy Hour drink pricing. Would stay here again.

  We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai for three nights as part of a Gate 1 tour. We did not need to interact with the desk staff because of being on a tour. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were comfortable providing any toiletries that were needed. The location was great in a safe neighborhood. We walked around when we had free time and ate a couple of blocks from the hotel in a market. Tasty food! The two of us ate for $2.The buffet in the hotel was a mix of western and asian. The coffee service was slow due to the slow speed of the coffee makers - always a line up but good coffee. We were on the 12th floor busy street side. Not at all noisy and great view.

  My wife and I travel into Shanghai every month or so and I will definitely be staying here again. Friendly, courteous straff helped me feel at home, and the concierge staff were eager to assist in the shipping of some larger items back to my home. The gym was clean and inviting and tar location was extremely convenient.
