Great location

Sep 19, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelLocated off a main street, one block from a lovely park, near the metro, walking distance from streets with local night life, this hotel is in an ideal spot to experience the Former French Concession neighborhood and to explore the city. The room was very good for China and just ok by Western standards. Based on other reviewers comments, I did not pay for their expensive breakfast and was very happy to find a collection of small food stalls catering to local commuters just a couple of blocks to the North. The hotel staff was friendly and made good suggestions for local restaurants and getting around. There is a French bakery attached to the lobby, plus a lunch place, both of which are good, though overpriced.
Overall, a great place for a stay in Shanghai at a fair price. -
Very well located terrible service

Joinville | Aug 24, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe Hotel could not be in a better place. The rooms are simple but every thing work well. When i didi not get wi fi they gave me a little ap i put on the cable from the berdroom so that got wi fi again. The old guest house still in repair. What i never get use to on this place is the bad reception work. They dont speak to much English but that is not a problem they just seem like they doing you a favor every time you talk to them i ve been here in april and since nothing changed. Another thing besides a lot if foreign in the area is very but very very difficult to get some one that speaks englisg. Be prepared for that.

Hong Kong, China | Jul 29, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI'm a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews I've read about this hotel. OK, its not the Hilton but it was clean, well serviced and comfortable.
Breakfast was a good mix of western and Chinese food, and their is a good all day coffee bar. Evening meals are not so great but many nice restaurants are nearby.
The hotel bar is down a dodgy looking alley but isn't sleazy and is clearly a karaoke hang out for local youngsters. On the night I visited, I met some German guys and a group of local girls came to our table and sang "if your happy and you know it, clap your hands" - in Mandarin!
In all I had a good stay and would be happy to go back. -
The Best Location

Joinville | Apr 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe Hotel is in one of the best places of Shanghai the French Concession, the old Hotel that should be the nice one is being rebuild. This is an avarage Hotel, the people that work at the reception talk a bad english and not very nice and helpful one of the days i was there i was badly treated by a girl called Lily.
The first night they did not want to give me a extta pillow and the ar condition was not working, than they gave me a ventilator and i went to complain the next they miracle turned on the ar condition. O think they turn and off the air condition because i read about the problems that other travelers had. The bed was the worst i stayed in China, very hard( but that is normal in China) the problem that moves a lo and seems very small for a couple. On the rest the room was clean and quite. If you ask me if i would go back there? Yes if i could not find another hotel for this price on that neighborhood. Dont forget to put the not disturb sign because 8:30 in morning they will ring the bell insistently and wake you up.
They kept our bags wile we traveled to Beijing and did not charge us for that service.
Wifi is good at any place in the hotel, i did not have breakfest and did not use the swimming pool.
Is very close to the underground around 5 min walk. Close to one of the most luxurios Shopping Center, many good restaurants. And lovely street food. Barbecue on the street wonderfful. Chines restaurant right in front delicious always full, good food, good price, excelent service. Try the noodles the best i eating in China.
Not to say that i did not see a cockroach was a big one on the elevator.
Price without breakfesf 500RMB a bit less than 100 dollars. -
Avoid

May 3, 2025Bad smells, loud neighbors, wall papers falling off the wall. Dealers at the entrance door.
Cleanliness is so so in local terms. I would highly recommend to look for a better option as long as the main building is closed for repairs.
If no options are available, bring ear and nose plugs.
