  Agree with the many reviewers – this hotel claims 4 stars but it’s practically just 3 by international standards. See it that way, then everything makes sense.
  Right, the ventilation was not good. The air was stale but not unbearable. True that cleanliness of the room was less than perfect but overall acceptable. I stayed in a “suite” with a separate dining area next to a sink & a microwave oven, which could come in handy for heating up bread or simple food. Plus, there’s free wi-fi for my stay.
  Beware of frayed wire & dust in the public area. And, staff was indeed not very helpful – I booked through C-trip but somehow, my reservation did not go through. I was standing right at the reception desk but they refused to do anything at all. I had to deal with C-trip and sorted it out myself before they would allow me to check in.
  The key sell of this hotel is its location. Surrounded by luxurious shopping malls and branded stores like Cucci, Fendi, etc., this area is meant for big bucks. In this light, this hotel is of good value.
  For those looking for an affordable accommodation in an expensive area, this hotel could do. Just be realistic with your expectations – from hardware to software, this hotel is a local 3-star through and through.

  This a China rated 4 star, so that means at most 3 star in western ratings.
  However, this is great value hotel for this area of Shanghai £50 a night, you cant fall off. It's a little dated inside but the rooms are a good size and clean.
  Stayed here 5 or 6 times over the last few years, my regular stop when in Shanghai.

  Visited this location in the spring of 2013 and found it less than stellar. Stayed here again on a recent trip and things had not changed much. The staff is friendly and the location is great. The rooms need significant changes and the carpets are filthy in all the rooms and the hallways. The beds are hard as a rock. For the pricing one pays staying at this location you would expect the basic items to be covered. We will not be staying here again as the beds are unbearable after a few days.

  Except the location, I cannot find any good reason to stay in this hotel. The hotel is extremely poorly managed and I would not recommend to anyone nor come back myself (even for the good location sake). It is NOT a 4/5 star as it claims - it is max 2/3 star in Chinese (not international) standard. If you plan to book because of the pictures posted by the hotel, please do not trust them. The pictures are definitely misleading - what you see is not what you get. Don't be victimized!
  First, building is old and worn out, lots of passers-by because the building is also used for office, no proper concierge nor security, room is smelly and extremely dirty (water stains are obvious on the carpet), Appliances e.g. hair dryer, cooking etc are not working, air-con is weak and wifi is less than 1Mbps which cannot support any of casual or professional online search. Room is not sound proof and you can hear the street noises. Bed (and sleep) quality is terrible. No hotel services at all and staff doesn't care you complains or not (I think they had got used to it already)! With my stay in China over 10 years, it seems the property has serious maintenance issues probably because of running out of cash or ownership change. Many of the economy hotel in Shanghai, hostel etc are cleaner and better managed than this one.
  My genuine advice to anyone who wants to book this hotel - please think twice before booking.

• HOTEL HELL....WORST HOTEL EVER.....DO NOT STAY THERE.

  This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in our entire life
  It used to be okay 2 years ago....but the hotel has become so run-down and dirty now.
  Upon opening the door, the odor is stale and unbearable. It felt dirty already.
  There were nuts/debris on the floor inside a supposedly clean room when we arrived.
  We changed room for 3 times but it got worse.
  The A/C did not work. The staff said they do not turn on A/C until noon...and all they had was hot air, not cool air...
  One of the elevators did not work. All other guests knew not to take that elevator.
  The pillows are smelly (when you head rest on the pillow the smells comes up..poof...then you want to vomit)
  We had to go get fresh towels from the supermarket next day to cover the pillows.
  There was this renovation going on in the hotel so their noise was like an alarm at 9am sharp.
  The TV did not work......
  Everything is old and dirty and the staff did not care at all.
  This is literally HOTEL HELL. Wish Gordan Ramsay could come fix it.
