started bad but ended good

Tel Aviv, Israel | Aug 30, 2025We spent 3 nights in the hotel. The first night we were given a terrible room in the 2nd floor. Dirty (human hair on the floor) smelly (cigarettes) and noisy (from the main street). The next day after complaining we got new rooms in the ground floor and this time the rooms were perfect – clean, quiet and not smelling. Breakfast was poor – limited variety of food and drinks. The customer orientation of the hotel staff is disappointing – never smiling and always grumpy. The best thing about the hotel is the location – although it’s located a bit far from the town center , the fact that there is a metro station very close by helps a lot. Few stations , few minutes and you are in the city center. The hotel price is very reasonable so if I combine everything I mentioned – I would stay here again but will make sure at check in that I’m getting a reasonable room.

Musty

Shanghai | Jun 1, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI stayed one night at the Shanghai Olympic hotel. I booked the business room. I made the mistake of not specifying queen bed so I was given a twin room. I was in a hurry to check in so did not change it. First impressions of the room were OK. It was only when I returned to the room in the evening that I noticed the musty smell in the room and the odor of stale cigarette smoke. I opened the windows (risking the mosquitoes as there are no nets on the windows) This helped a little but the smell never went away. I would stay here again but only in a no smoking room. The hotel is very convenient for the subway and is only a short taxi ride from the French Concession area

Shanghai trip accommodation

May 27, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessA very reasonably priced hotel which claimed to be 4 star. Well past its best, with lots of loose flooring to trip up over and thus spill coffee all over yourself ( which I did daily) but I slept in one of the comfiest beds ever. And the shower, which looked very basic, was very impressive. Good sized towels and changed daily. Cleanliness and a comfy sleep are very important to me, so although the hotel was way past its best, I had a thoroughly comfortably stay. An unexpectedly beautiful garden too - and all to myself, if you exclude the mosquitoes. I'd stay there again, and believe me, in China, I'm especially fussy. One more thing to look out for is they took a deposit from my bank card which was twice the cost of my stay. I wasn't expecting that, but as I don't speak mandarin, my complaint fell on deaf ears.

If looking for comfort, avoid this hotel

London, United Kingdom | Oct 29, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayDue to a flight change we had an extra night in Shanghai, so we booked this hotel at the last minute before we arrived. Upon arrival the hotel looks perfectly normal and the reception area is spacious and has a clean feel to it. But whilst checking in the lingering smell of smoke begins to reach you and whilst you are in this hotel, you can not escape this smell. The room we were given was quite a large room and again at first glance the room seemed fine and we were almost happy with it. But then you begin to realise the room is quite dirty, we had leftover ash on the bedside table, there was some stale food that someone had dropped in the corner of the room and the room had not been hoovered in a while. The bathroom was very dark and dingy. More importantly the room absolutely stank of smoke, this wasn't helped by the sitting area down the hall where people are able to smoke just a stones throw from the rooms. In this hotel it is almost impossible to avoid the smoke. Wifi was intermittent.
If you are willing to pay the price for this hotel then you can get something far better with your money than the Shanghai Olympic Hotel. A lot of little details are overlooked and all these add up and can make your stay uncomfortable. Main issues with this hotel was the smoke and the lack of thorough cleanliness. -
Sad, old fashion , noisy and not clean

La rochelle | Sep 17, 2025I would not keep good memory of this " motel" of a 70's style construction. The only color is brown or beige , rooms are so noisy (doors closing - phone calls - coughs ) that I could hear my neighbor snoring. Bathroom was small with black mold under the edge of the washbasin . Wifi was weak. Location is not bad with a metro station nearby.
