Like a holiday in a place far away
Tobbelito
Skara, Sweden | Oct 19, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessWas in Shanghai area on business trip and stayed in this hotel. What a great place, it made the time there so much nicer! The facility is beautiful with its design, pools, vegetation - it really feels like you are not in Shanghai, but a place far away, I could relax instantly. Room was comfortable, breakfast was rich and the service was very personal and kind. So I had a great time there!
Only downside maybe is that it is far away from downtown areas, but again that depends on what you are there for. If you want a place to relax and enjoy your stay, this hotel is definitely worth a visit! -
Another good staycation
ShanghaiStats
Shanghai, China | Oct 9, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe Sofitel has been our 'go to' hotel over the summer for the occasional weekend away. Would definitely recommend the Sunday Brunch.
Again we stayed on the Executive Floor - nice big rooms, easy check-in and check-out (avoiding the queues downstairs). Good breakfast selection, and a happy hour from 5 till 7 where us parents could relax over a wine / beer whilst the kids ate and then burned off their energy in the playroom.
Great hotel for little kids, and therefore a nice getaway for us parents as well! -
Not a bad place to stay if the weather is good and you need a break from the city, but could be so much better.

Oct 1, 2025Positive points:
Check in was good. French gentleman on the front desk was very helpful and professional.
Room was fantastic (Prestige suite). Super bathroom/shower room. Separate WC.
Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice even in the Club Lounge breakfast.
Negative points:
Exterior of the hotel is tired looking - needs painting
Indoor pool is too cold.
Corridors, club lounge etc too hot.
Pool area is tired looking - green/black areas on the grouting/furniture needs replacing.
Male pool changing room had that common Chinese public toilet smell.
Member of staff spat into the sand next to the outdoor pool.
Wedding party on the last day ignored the non-smoking signs and so the whole corridor smelt of smoke.
Very low level of English for many of the staff. Girl in the Business Centre didn't speak a word.
Had the feeling on occasions that asking for a coffee in the club lounge was a hassle for them.
Extortionate prices in the hotel shop - 98rmb for a bottle of beer/68 for Chinese beer.
In summary, not a bad place to stay if the weather is good and you can use the beach and pool outside, but apart from the room, the inside leaves much to be desired. Go for the Club upgrade and the food/drink during happy hour is okay. In future, we'll probably use a hotel in Shanghai city centre for a mini break. Club facilities at Crowne Plaza hotels are much better. -
Relax after work

Conegliano | Sep 22, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessIf you are looking for a place where to relax after a tough working day, that's the place.
Despite the distance from Shanghai downtown, by the way easily reacheable by taxi at cheap price, here you can pamper yourself.
A great outdoor swimming pool with sand beach!!! Unbelievable but real.
A 25 meter indoor pool with glass roof, gym, billiards...
Each room with a balcony that allows you to relax smoking a cigar and drinking a glass of wine.
Different restaurants, room service h 24 and an excellent SPA.
What else?
Enjoy it!! -
Sunday Brunch
WorldTravelerX3
Shanghai, China | Sep 21, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe visited the Sunday Brunch in July and it was really a great experience. The selection, the service and the pool area were great. We visited last Sunday and it was a huge disappointment. Inconsistent. All tables inside and outside were full. With additional tables filling common walking areas. The kitchen area was a mad house, people grabbing and pushing for plates. There was plenty of selection but we needed to wait for replenishing (as most items emptied quickly). It was really crowded and uncomfortable. The service people working were inexperienced and it seemed really in a "bad mood". The young guy trying to make pancakes, i'm almost certain it was his first time making pancakes. He had no idea what he was doing. Even though the tables were half full with "foreigners" the staff found it very difficult to communicate in simple basic English. I would say to management- don't overbook Sunday Brunch. The service staff and kitchen can't handle it , therefore ruining the experience for all. Driving from downtown Shanghai for that, it's was not worth it last Sunday.
