set your expectations low...
jules f
Jun 22, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessStayed here for a week on business during May 2015.
It is an old hotel, which does definitely show in its facilities. The lobby and especially the dining area are in dire need of renovation.
Funny most hotels would have it maybe the other way around, splendid looking lobby (to advertise their hotel), with sometimes lesser splendid rooms to follow. Here the rooms are ok,definitely not great ok and kind of an upgrade from the experience / feel of the dark uninviting lobby. It appears the rooms may have been renovated a few years back. The Air-con in the rooms work, but only during the day, as during the night they are being switched off and hence you may wake up in sweat. This was the case for all the days I stayed there, no matter what you set the AC to, it cools nicely during the day, but at night they cut it off. The room was 26 degrees (C) in the mornings, which I find uncomfortable. When talking to the reception about this, they seem aware of this (deliberate?) air-con switch-off during night (saving money?) but all you get is smiles and I am sorry sir.
The breakfast buffet is very limited, especially if you prefer a western / continental fair (yes we are in China and I love Chinese food, but not for breakfast). Limited cereals, very limited fruits. Apart from toast bread and some sweet cakes, there is no decent bread. Generally the breakfast buffet looks rather unappetizing. Coffee is the bitter, percolated type, left on the hot plate till it smells burned.
If you need to stay in that part of town, you may consider this place but keep your expectations limited. -
Nice rooms; lousy WiFi
Marsha A
Rockford, Illinois | Jun 19, 2025The rooms are big and nice looking. The bathroom has a large tub and a shower. The sheets are changed daily. There's a safe in the room. If it weren't for the wifi, I'd be totally happy with the room. Trying to backup photos ranges from difficult to impossible. Even sending a photo in a email is problematic. The breakfast buffet is plentiful but not well suited to US tastes. The eggs in the omelet weren't cooked completely. The fried eggs on the counter are cold. There is a market across the street that has almost everything you might want from food to refrigerators. If this fits your budget, it's not a bad choice.

Needs Overhaul Badly
Wanderlust1954
Mission Viejo, California | Jul 19, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI was very surprised at the state of this hotel. It is in a good area of shanghai but is run down and the service is poor. The room we had looked like it hadn't changed since the 1970's. The furniture was torn, the shower curtain had rust-stains, the wallpaper was literally peeling off the wall.
When it came to room service, the menu was in english but the staff could not understand a word of english - which made ordering an item from the menu impossible. They had to send someone up to the room - twice - to get the order. The second time was to inform us that the hot chinese items on the menu were not available - only american style sandwiches. And the prices were high.
As you can see from the pictures, even the window was clouded - not from dirt, but some defect so you could not even look through it.
The only good thing was the mattress felt good.
This is not what I expected from a Ramada. While I didn't expect a 5-star hotel, this would be a 2-star - at best. You should stay away from this hotel until they do a complete top to bottom renovation. -
Avoid this place
Anant J
Bengaluru (Bangalore), India | May 26, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel is really old and it shows. It looks like even the staff does not care about the upkeep of the hotel. The rooms are spacious but unclean. Stayed here for 2 nights and would not stay here again!
Lots of issues with the hotel. Main points listed below:
* The room was dirty before I even checked in. The carpet wasn't vacuumed or swept and had a lot of dirt and some stuff that I did not closely investigate (perhaps some leaves). The desk and tables had a nice layer of dust on it.
* As I checked in late, I just crashed. But when I returned to the room the next day, the carpet was still filthy, the desk and table still dusty.
* The room has insects and mosquitoes flying around..
* The bathroom did not smell pleasant. The flush does not work property
* The bathroom has a window into the room with a "screen" supposedly to separate the "view". The screen was broken and stuck at an odd angle. So if you're sharing the room with someone, good luck on any privacy
* The shower is in the tub which is so narrow it is difficult to manoeuvre around without hitting the "viewing window"
Lots more... The hotel is best avoided. It is a pity and a bad spot on the Ramada name. They should dissociate themselves from this hotel as soon as possible. -
Dirty and dark
MRM43
Louisiana | Mar 17, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyHotel looks really nice: large rooms, large bathroom with separate tub and shower, nice furniture. . . but then when I sat on the bed to take my shoes off, I noticed trash and dust bunnies all over the floor. When I looked closer, the entire room floor was filthy. It had obviously not been vacuumed. I thought they had just missed it and would get it the next day. We stayed 3 nights and it was NEVER vacuumed. Know why they provide slippers now! When took first shower, the grout in the shower was covered in black mold/mildew. The floor around the toilet had drops of urine which had not been mopped up from last occupant. The sink was sticky. Bathroom had not been cleaned.
Drank a cup of coffee one morning and used one of the porcelain cups provided. Was still there that night when we returned and stayed there for the next two days. Never moved or cleaned.
Said had free Wi-Fi, but was only in lobby. None in room.
Finally, there were two lights out in the bathroom: the one above the sink and the one above the shower. Thinking once again that the cleaning staff would notice and replace, this never happened. Had to put on make-up in the room because bathroom was so dark. The light beside one of the beds was also out and never replaced. Lighting in hallways was also out in many spots making for dark hallways.
Breakfast was great!
