I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

We booked seagull scenery suite and it has a great view of the bund. I think it's the best hotel location over viewing the bund. Hotel staffs are not friendly and helpful, so don't expect much from hotel staffs. Wifi is slow. Price for hotel room is reasonable compare to other 4 or 5 stars hotel for the suite room over looking view of the bund. We booked seagull hotel scenery suite because of the room view. And walking distance to the bund. Location is the best if you want to stay near the bund. But walking distance is far to Nanjing Rd. Taxi fare is cheap in Shanghai

We stayed here for one night at the end of a cruise from Vancouver to Shanghai. The room was clean with a great view of the skyscrapers on the Bund. There is free WiFi in the lobby but its no good for accessing Facebook as the Chinese have a ban on social networking. Not the hotels fault. The staff are very straight faced but maybe that's just how Chinese are. I can only eat gluten free food as I am a coeliac, but I didn't even bother asking about eating in the hotel as the Chinese don't even have a word for 'gluten'. I had to pay 300 yuen deposit against loss or breakage in the room. They provide a free condom in the bathroom, which I found interesting.

Medium level, fairly cost effective with wonderful location, worth it just for the view out your bedroom window. Rooms ok and clean with ok linen + comfy beds.
Rather tired hotel but a better location you cannot get - so forgive the flaws, the porters at reception are talented in calling a taxi when required but we mostly walked down the road and over the bridge onto the Bund which was totally enjoyable every time.
Cannot comment on dining room as we never ate at the hotel.

Great location but it could be considered expensive bearing in mind the status of the building and service. Views to the city are quite dissapointing. Showers are too old. Part of the staff wasn't too friendly. Breakfast it's too expensive. No Internet in the rooms nor in the hall. It clearly needs a deep refresh.

  • decent room at a great location

Considering its location, The Seagull on the Bund is a decent hotel for people who are on a budget.
The nearest metro station is East Nanjing Road, which is about 15 minutes away from the hotel. That would seems like long distance to walk off but by doing so you can catch a glimpse of the bund on the way, which Shanghai is famous for. Alternatively, you could just ask the hotel staff to call a taxi for you but it is not recommended due to the heavy traffic along the coastline.
The rooms, as the title suggests, are not exactly the best in the region but it is considered good enough for the price range of the hotel. Moreover, as the hotel is an aged establishment, the windows can be a little dirty on the outside.
Then again, the Seagull on the Bund, however timeworn it might be, is still an economical choice for hotels in the region and it is good for people traveling with a tight pocket.
