Smart place good spot
Roger M
Upwey, Australia | Sep 17, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayAfter nearly 3 weeks moving around in China this Hotel was a pleasant surprise! Nice rooms with of course the obligatory missing light bulb in the bathroom However a very nice stay and very convenient spot for most of the attractions in Shanghai. Be sure to book on line for the best deals and book a Boutique room for a real surprise!

Entry is anything but Elegance

Nana Glen, Australia | Nov 14, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayLittle hard to locate hotel as it is actually in an alley, but once located, check in was smooth and we were escorted to our rooms. When we arrived at our rooms, one had a glass door on the bathroom with no privacy afforded. This room was occupied by 2 men and not appropriate at all.
Ours looked a lot smaller than we had looked at on the internet, so I wondered why.. then it struck me there was no bathtub.. Getting out my confirmations, I went to reception to query and they said that that type of room does not have a bath, no matter what their website says! we were eventually move to a room with a bath, but they were adamant that there were no such rooms with a bath AND 2 beds for the guys ..
We were happy with our room in the end and it was comfortable and mostly clean and was on a higher floor which seemed designed for 'entertaining' young Chinese girls who were seen coming and going all the time. There were no direct approaches to any of our group at the hotel for any of these services, but you only need to stand still for a moment in the Mall and you will be offered multiple times.
There is some sort of drain in the middle of the alley entering the hotel and all but one day we were there it was overflowing with a foul sewerage smell.. Not a nice welcome home at all.. -
Best location if you don't mind wearing slippers

Munich, Germany | Oct 7, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelAmazing location: just a short walk to the Bund (perfect for nightlife, all good clubs are in walking distance) and to the next subway station/shopping street East Nanjing Road. You can even walk to the famous tourist attraction Yuyuan garden in 20-25 minutes if you like to walk. There are 2 small supermarkets right in front of the hotel to get drinks and snacks 24/7.
Hotel looks fancy on the first glance, but the carpet in the room was really dirty, had to wear the slippers provided. The walls were dirty, too. The shower had a bad smell. A broken lamp got replaced on the same day I asked though and the reception staff spoke enough English to answer basic questions. If you are coming to see the city and basically just sleep in the hotel, this is a good place to stay. Shanghai is so big, if you won't get a hotel in this area, you will spend half of your day in taxis and subways. So the location is worth it. -

Good location at a price...

Jul 25, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThis hotel has an excellent location! Located in the Bund and within walking distance of the promenade, Yu Garden, City of God Temple, Shanghai Museum.
However...
The hotel decor is very dated and worn. There is a smell of mustiness and dampness in the lobby and rooms which can be off putting. There was some leakage from the shower drain and the water was not clean which created more bad smell. There was no window in our room or in the hallway on our floor which made us feel quite claustrophobic at times. If you plan to spend most of your time out of the room then you could put up with these things for the price and location!
