Tranquil surrounding in the middle of bustling city
eLasticbarbie
Sydney | Jul 20, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyThe hotel is located in the lovely complex which was great for a morning walk. As it is within the hotel complex, it's safe to let our children go walk around by themselves. We stayed at the Club Wing in an executive room which is a separate building from the main check-in lobby. Our taxi was confused as to where the drop off to the main lobby was so there was a bit of confusion when we arrived.
The room was a bit dated but still very luxurious with excellent amenities. The club wing provided breakfast, afternoon tea and supper which was very convenient. The dining room was tastefully decorated with art and antique furniture. However the breakfast variety is better at the main building dining room.helen w, Marcom at InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin, responded to this reviewDear eLasticbarbie,
We are happy that you and your children like the morning walk in the lovely complex, thanks for your compliments for our luxurious room with excellent amenities, convenient food and beverage service in club wing, welcome to our hotel again.

Excellent stay!
Steven_84017
London, United Kingdom | Jul 15, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesStayed in a Club Room. Very nice, spacious. Great building, with a solid gym, in an excellent location. Service was good, except for a few minor hiccups (specifically, they dropped the ball a couple of times ordering taxis; Also, required - but could not provide - swimming caps for the pool).
helen w, marcom at InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin, responded to this reviewDear Steven_84017,
Greetings from Intercontinental Shanghai Ruijin and thank you for your valuable comments.
We are pleased to learn you enjoyed your Club experience, were comfortable with the spacious room and found our central location convenient. We feel very honoured to have this historic property with 15 acres of lush gardens, right in the heart of the French Quarter of Shanghai
We have noted your comments on the swimming caps and have already addressed this with our Fitness Centre Manager to ensure adequate stock is always available to our guests and members.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experiences and we look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel again.
Best regards

It didn't look like an InterContinental Hotel
Florence H
Jul 4, 2025After walking around the property, I felt tired so I approached the staff to locate bar or restaurant. Concierge suggested me to go to the restaurant but the restaurant staff suggested me to go to the lobby lounge. There was only one waitress at the lounge so it took ages to order and wait for anything. By the way, there were around 2-3 wedding reception at the outdoor, making so much noise. I didn't think it was a good idea to come here if you need to have a peaceful rest.
helen w, marcom at InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin, responded to this reviewDear Florence H,
Thank you for your comments and we are sorry to learn about your experiences in the Lobby Lounge. Firstly and most importantly please accept our apologies for the shortcomings you have outlined. Our General Manager has spoken with our senior leadership team and we are immediately following through with a review of our 24 hour staffing in this area.
With our beautiful gardens and historic buildings we are an attractive venue for wedding, especially on the weekends. The wedding receptions are normally held mid afternoon and although we have not had any past concerns with this, we do acknowledge there may be some noise if you are walking through the gardens.
Thank you again for your valuable comments, please be assured we have listened and are taking action. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back in the future.
Be well and best regards

Great location

Jun 24, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelGreat location in French concession area and excellent brunch. My wife and I are vegan and we found he staff to be very accommodating and courteous. The soup for breakfast/brunch is fantastic (I can’t believe the broth is only vegetable based!)
I only wish the pool was better and that there was a sauna.helen w, Marcom at InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin, responded to this reviewDear Ramiro J,
Thanks for your compliments for our great location, excellent brunch, the courteous staff, fantastic soup. We are happy you and your wife are happy with this time's experience, welcome to our hotel again.
