  We stayed at this great hotel in October. It was a great experience from arrival to check out. The bell team and ladies at front desk took very good care of us. The rooms were cozy, elegant and felt like home. Tables was an amazing experience for breakfast. Great selection and taste, while service was always attentive. The bar is a great addition with superb whisky selection. Highly recommended, regardless for business or pleasure.

  The Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai is well situated on Nanjing West Road. The hotel is luxurious and offers great comfort. Rooms are quiet, spacious and very tidy. The bathroom is well equipped and very clean. Breakfast has a lot of variety. Service is at a high level. In the proximity of the hotel there are small restaurants and plenty of shopping. The metro is 5-10 min walking distance.

  I have been staying at this hotel since 1998. The property is definitely in need of updating - scuffed walls are a pet peeve of mine - but we very much appreciated the excellent service and location. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The pool, while less fancy than others, had an outdoor portion, which was a plus. We stayed on an Amex promotion, so it was good value for money.

  Nice quiet atmosphere with great staff. They have a good selection of gins, scotch & other drinks for you with great service. Nice Ritz decor and if you want food not on the menu, they will order for you anyway. This is one of my regular spots. Good for one person or a group of friends!
  This is the hotel that the American Presidents stay in when they visit Shanghai.

  We stayed in the Ritz Carlton for a couple of nights while sight seeing in Shanghai. It's very well situated for easy access to the metro which makes it easy to get to the airport/train station as well as sight seeing.
  The pool is big and clean and the outdoor pool is great although the staff's concern that it might be too cold for us to swim in shows the cultural difference between Britain and China - it was warmer than any day in the UK.
  The steam room, sauna, plunge pool and jacuzzi in the changing rooms were a nice surprise too, as were the multitude of clean towels - you don't need to take one from your room.
  The room was clean and well equipped. It didn't have phone chargers and when I asked on a previous trip I wasn't offered one of the many left by other guests but instead was offered the concierge service to go and buy one (slightly disappointing given it's 5 star rating).
  The kids safari club is a brilliant idea. For only a small additional fee your child can sleep in a tent in your room. This is ideal for small children who might otherwise fall out of bed, as the bed is on the floor. It also allows you to zip your child in which gives you a marginal element of privacy. Only problem is that the tent gets quite warm inside. We ended up having to unzip both ends and remove the duvet from it's cover to keep our son cool enough to sleep.
  Breakfast buffet has a good selection of Chinese and western food. However tracking a waitress down for coffee refills is a challenge and it wasn't until the last morning that I realised you could have more than just regular filter coffee.
  Dinner buffet selection is nice, but not a very broad selection and quite pricy. Probably better going to one of the many restaurants around.
  Other than the sometimes elusive coffee servers the staff are all pleasant and helpful and speak good English.
