Great location, adequate quality
AmandaNZ822
Aug 4, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe're a couple from NZ who have been living in China for a couple of years.
This place is great if you want a central location, quick walk to Subway station, short walk to Nanjing Road shopping/Bund areas. The breakfast was adequate - had bacon, eggs, plus Chinese dishes. It's a little hidden off the main road and we walked past it the first time.
We had a little mix-up and were originally given a twin room instead of a queen bed. We bought the room off Ctrip, and our booking confirmation didn't specify twin or queen so keep this in mind. We insisted that we ordered a queen, and after the receptionist checked with her manager we were given the queen without any extra fuss.
It's also really close to a little shop selling good quality Guangdong style BBQ pork, crispy roast pork and duck - can't get these things where we live! -
Good location, but some issues

London, United Kingdom | Nov 4, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelI stayed here for a night, got a double room on the 3rd floor. The lifts were playing up, so ended up having to take the service staircase, which was covered in piles of dirty sheets, on arriving in the corridor to my room I had to pick my way through another huge pile of dirty sheets (this was at 8pm when a lot of people were checking in!). Room was ok, though a huge mouldy patch on the ceiling and wall gave me some idea of the quality of the air I was breathing. The staffs English wasn't too good either, when I phoned to ask about the internet, all the lady could say was 'no password'..... But I was asking 'which of the 10 or so available wireless signals was the hotels?' (It wasn't obvious). Also, the picture of the hotel on the advert looks NOTHING like the hotel itself, the reception area is down a dark alleyway, with several other hotels, and the sign for it is in Chinese (which translates completely differently from its English name). I'm used to it having stayed in dozens of Chinese hotels, but I imagine someone new to it would have trouble. I think, on balance for me it was an ok stay, but only in relation to the proximity to town vs price, it's only 5 minutes walk to people's park and the main pedestrian shopping area, 15 minutes walk from Nanjing East metro stop. The hotel itself I wouldn't recommend to anyone expecting luxury or good comfort, and the mould and lack of interest in basic cleanliness (ie piles of dirty sheets on the floor) didn't reflect well in my opinion. However if you're up for a couple of cheap nights in Shanghai and can put up with it, be my guest.

Well located

Bogota, Colombia | Nov 1, 2025 | Trip type: Businessthe best of this place are the breakfast and location.
5 minutes walk from people's square, 24hrs market 1 minute walk, near metro station, safe and good place at night.
Was clean enough, service was good, front desk will be better speaking more english... almost cero english, but they will do their best to communicate with you.
At our arrival after 37 hours travelling wifi in our rooms didn't worked, just with one short talk to girl at front desk they changed and upgraded our rooms (3 rooms with same place). -
Great location, let down by poor quality

Nantwich, United Kingdom | Oct 24, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe stayed in this hotel for five nights and found it to be the perfect place to be based for visiting Shanghai. It is a short walk to People's Square, close to the Metro and close to good restaurants. The hotel however is poorly cleaned, poorly run and needs refurbishment but the price reflects the standard. A short stay would be OK, if you would like three days or more, I would suggest paying extra for a better hotel.

Mould, rising damp and exposed wiring - absolute nightmare!

Sep 14, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayWe arrived at our hotel and quickly got our room key, surprisingly the receptionist could speak good English and was friendly enough. As soon as we opened the door (Room 411) the smell of damp and mould hit us - the walls of the room were mouldy, flaking and badly repaired. The roof was cracked and mouldy and the entire room (including bedding) smelt damp. The vanity was falling apart in the bathroom and our only window looked out onto a weird, stained glass corridor with no real use. The bar fridge didn't work and the carpet was covered with paint chips and remnants of the flaking wall.
We complained about our room in the morning and were assigned a new room, right next door! We were delighted to see our room was mould free but the holes in the wall with exposed wiring weren't reassuring. We went out and arrived home at midnight to find our room card wouldn't unlock our door.. luckily the receptionist fixed this issue once we made the trek back down to the lobby. Sleeping was more difficult in room 410! The air conditioner was incredibly loud and there was a strange ringing noise every 10-15 seconds which did a great job at keeping us awake.
The breakfast buffet was huge but the food was of average quality. All up, our stay wasn't great. This hotel has plenty of maintenance issues and doesn't offer much. Luckily we only had to spend two nights here - if you have the option to stay somewhere else, don't hesitate!
