Very nice hotel in Shanghai.
Guillermo S
Queretaro, Mexico | Sep 9, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel is very impressive. It´s almost like staying at a Five Star Hotel in Las Vegas. The decoration is amazing.
The breakfast buffet has different options and it´s included in the room price. The options for lunch and dinner are not so good, but the pizza is delicious! For late snacks (I couldn´t sleep with the time zone change) order the wonton soup.
The gym is one of the best I have seen in a hotel or privately. You can do any type of workout (traditional, crossfit, boxing, etc). It opens at 6:30 and closes at 10 pm.
The rooms are big and very nice too. The one negative thing are the carpets. As mentioned in other reviews for this hotel, it looks like they have never cleaned them. I had to wear my sandals the whole time. The other thing is that Wi-fi is very bad on the hotel overall. Other than that the rooms are OK.
The staff speaks very limited English. Ask for managers if you have problems communicating, they speak OK.
Overall, this hotel is a great option for a very good price in Shanghai. -
Huge & Impressive hotel

Melbourne, Australia | Feb 4, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyUpon entry to the hotel, we were awed by the massive lobby and high ceiling, all decorated with impressive decorations! We also cant believe and jumped in joy when we entered our rooms - which are equally enormous for a hotel room's standard. Large bathroom (with shower and bathtub), huge living corner, and spacious sleeping area coupled with study table. Almost seems like a studio apartment. Bed and pillow are very comfy too, very satisfied travellers here. Not too sure about the location though, as we have chartered vehicle. We had dim sums at one of the restaurant above and it was delicious!

Classy great find!!!
Travel_Grande
India | Jan 9, 2026 | Trip type: BusinessI stayed at this hotel twice during my recent visit to Shanghai. Both times arriving late at night. For some reason the taxi drivers can not get the entrance right and both arrivals, and numerous times during my stay, I was dropped at the exit and walked from there. The entrance to the main hotel past the concierge is grand. The check in was quick and I arrived at my room and said wow!!! I was upgraded the first time and had a huge suite all to myself. The sitting area was very large with a comfortable bedroom. On my second visit, I was given a queen bed suite on a smoking floor. The carpets in this room were stained but the first one was immaculately clean. The most irritating part in the larger suite was the bathroom lights. They are automatic and it is a challenge to spend a little time in the bathroom with the lights on. The lights will go off in the other areas if you are showering and with black granite walls it is really uncomfortable. Same happens when you are using the toilet. Conservation of energy is great but at least one has the right to shower or relieve themselves with lights on. The television at the bath tub did not work and that unfortunately was the plan.
The breakfast is a standard fare. Nice seating area with courteous staff, however with very little English. I think that is the reason why you don’t see many foreigners here. I had to dine in one of the nights. The dinner was just about OK and we could only get our third preference on the wine list. The staff also seems to be a little untrained in the main restaurant.
Interiors are great and the place is decorated very well. The whole place gives you a feeling of being in a museum. There is a club (Sky Fortune Club) next to the hotel which of course is introduced with a mandatory not “operated by the hotel” caveat. You can definitely try their services if you are so inclined.
The location is close to Gubei area and the Laowaijie (the foreigner's street) and is very convenient.
Overall a very nice experience and a great value for the money that you pay especially when you book thru ctrip. Given the fact that I have stayed at almost all the 4-5 stars hotels in this vicinity, this was a great find. I will definitely be back. -
Sky Fortune - My visit

Jerusalem, Israel | Dec 3, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI spent 2 nights at the sky fortune during November 2014. On the upside the rooms were very spacious and well decorated (like the rest of the hotel). On the downside you could tell that the building is getting old and the maintenance level could be better. The toilets klogged up easily and the carpet needed replacement. Breakfast was average at best although catered to all different styles (western and Chinese).

Nightmare in Shanghai
carolannt
Los Angeles | Nov 17, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis is certainly my worse hotel experience EVER. This is a shame to call this a 5* hotel, it would barely deserve 2*. I thought I was having a good deal on a suite for 5 nights, but what a trap! As soon as I walked in I noticed the stains on the carpet, that is so disgusting, and stains on the ceiling as well. Then it was the temperature in the room, so hot I could barely breath. Long story short, the manager came to my room and explained to me that the air conditioning doesn't work, there is nothing I can do from the remote control because it's a central heater. The temperature can't be lower than 22 Celcius degrees. At this time, my room was at 26 degrees, the next day it went up to 30 degrees. When I called back the manager, another one came to my room and offered to open the window. How great was that? Then you get all the noise from the street, and the pollution on top of it. I could barely sleep the first night because of the noise, and that was with the windows closed! Finally they brought me a fan and it took 40 minutes to get it working. The plug was not working, and they changed the fan before they figured out where the issue was coming from... Regarding plugs, another issue was in the bathroom with the hair dryer. There is one plug that says: for shaver only. No other plug, so I asked: where am I supposed to blow dry my hair? In the living room? In the bedroom? There is no mirror. Great! And about mirrors, the one for make-up in the bathroom has no light, the lighting in the bathroom is automatic, when you walk in, it lights up. We have no control of it. It's automatic but with only a few light bulbs. I asked the manager: How am I supposed to do my make-up with no light? He couldn't answer. Another big issue was that none of the staff speaks a good English. Even at front desk. Oh and on my first night, I ordered room service, I asked for the tofu soup. The soup arrived and it was a huge bowl, I'd say it could feed 4 people. When I ordered it, the waiter asked me what else did I want with it, so I assumed it was a small portion. I then added the vegetarian Abalone with spice. So when I realized how big the tofu soup was, I asked to send back the Abalone dish. It looked so big as well, with lots of chilies. But it seemed complicated to cancel the Abalone... then I look at the soup and started to dig in and what did I see? A big piece of bacon. I screamed in horror. Who would put bacon in a tofu soup that is normally a vegetarian dish? Bacon and chicken! The waiter laughed at me and said it was a Chinese soup. But nothing specified that on the menu. It only says Tofu soup. Who would guess then that it's not a vegetarian dish? I sent the tofu soup back to the kitchen and kept the Abalone, but after I removed the chilies, only a few pieces of vegetarian Abalone were left with some peanuts. What a poor dinner I had...And I could go on and on with details such as the notepad in my room that was so dirty when I arrived, even the manager was embarrassed to see it and removed it right away... Overall, the entire experience was a total nightmare.
