Great Location & neat rooms
Manish_Sirnani
Kalyan, India | Nov 9, 2025 | Trip type: FamilyWe stayed here in Oct 2015. The location is great & accessible to every cadre of travelers. Rooms were neat & offered good value for money. Rooms on higher floors provide a good view of the city & the nearby local Bazaar. Also has a good proximity to subway.

Perfect location no matter your travel style

Phoenix, Arizona | Jul 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThis hotel was very comfortable, had a great buffet breakfast, and was a perfect location for exploring Shanghai. The Bund was just moments away, as were the unique streets of Old Shanghai. Views from the hotel were stunning.

Jun 29, 2025My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and thought the rooms were very clean and comfy they had English TV channels. The location was perfect very close to the tube and also the bund. The staff all spoke English very well didn't have any problems.

Just get to the room quick

Singapore | Jun 2, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayThe hotel occupies a few levels of the building, with lots of wholesale shops on the ground floor. Everyday, there's lots of deliveries, with goods thrown around the steps, & the shop people setting up their stuff on the steps outside the shops, which is a nightmare if you are going in or coming out with your luggage. Reception is on level 8, & 2 out of 4 nights I was on that level there was a pungent sour smell like someone had puked on the floors. Room floor (level 12 for me) had a constant musty smell, presumably from the carpets. Room is alright, & view is good if you're facing the Yu Garden, though every night there's karaoke happening by the park near the hotel within earshot when you're on the balcony, & depending on who's singing it ranges from interesting to outright painful to hear. Location-wise it's great, something like 5 mins walk to the bund. Room did not have wifi, but hooking up with the ethernet cable required no log-in, so a travel wireless router would be useful.

Room surpasses expectation

Perth, Australia | Apr 3, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesWe stayed here for 5 nights on a holiday trip. From the airport, taxi will take roughly 45min if no traffic, costing roughly RMB180. We got ripped off the first time we got a taxi, please remember to ask for a receipt and pay only what is printed on it.
the hotel is not an easy find for our taxi driver whom had to exit the cab multiple times asking for directions. Reason being the hotel entrance isn't exactly on renming road, rather tucked in the side of the building. I overheard other guests angrily complaining the difficulty in locating this hotel as well. So, my advice is to print out a zoomed in map of the hotel to avoid delays.
From the outside, the building looks rather unattractive. Almost derelict. Dont worry, it looks better inside.
The reception is on 8th floor. Staff speaks minimal english. Not smiley either but they do try and answer my queries. Not a friendly vibe but that seemed common in shanghai.
I rated this 4/5 because the room is good. Large room, king sized bed, lots of cupboard space, and plenty of amenities including bathrobe and room slippers, something I did not expect. Room furnishings are of decent quality as well. There is a bath which is a plus too.
downside, wifi non functional. Noisy due to construction nearby, but not the fault of the hotel. Room do smell somewhat of cigarettes.
From the hotel, short walk to yuyuan metro station and you are good to go. Flagging taxis seem a mission impossible for us at most times. So, for important trips, I advise taxi booking from the hotel reception is much more reliable.
