Not good for foreign travelers
Frank C
Jacksonville, United States | Oct 11, 2025 | Trip type: Friends getawayVery nice hotel and the location is great. I highly recommend the Indian restaurant to the right of the hotel. I stayed here for 4 days in October 2015 and from The U.S.A.
My issue is with the concierge desk. They do not speak English well, yes I know the hotel is in China, and not to eager to help. I would recommend, if you are not fluent in Chinese staying at and American hotel just around the corner. Hilton. -
Disappointing but forgiveable

Grantham, United Kingdom | Sep 30, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI have stayed at this hotel many times over the last few years and it saddens me when the standards they have achieved in the past slip a little. I was looking forward to enjoying the relaxing ambience of the lobby lounge - only to find it was closed for renovation until the end of October. Ok - they have to keep the hotel up to date. Alternative arramgements were in place to provide the same facilities at the Cafe. But when I asked for a gin and tonic on two separate nights - I was told they had no gin! They could go to the shop around the corner and buy a bottle for RMB89. A hotel of this size with no gin?!
My room was on the Executive Floors allowing access to the Executive lounge with its attendant benefits. On the weekend of 26th/27th September it was a National Holiday in China so although the rest of the hotel was staffed, the Executive Lounge was closed. Ok, once again, whilst inconvenient, that is understandable - but surely we should be given a discount on the room rate for the lack of facilities.
Other than that, everything was to the standard I have come to expect. Rooms of a good size, well maintained, helpful staff (when they were there!) good location.
I put the problems on this trip to be a minor glitsch and hope that next time I visit, the Equatorial will be back to full efficiency. -
exceeds expectations

Hong Kong, China | Sep 30, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessIve always believed that a hotel must be rated on meeting and or exceeding your expectations based on the perceived value for money and satisfaction.
So this is not a big brand chain hotel.
It is not the most modern.
It is not in the best or most convenient location
I Knew that when i booked the room.
It is clean, well kept, has good attentive service with some english skills.
Short walk to shops and relatively easy to get a taxi.
Food is local chinese with some western fare.
lifts are efficient and dont make a noise at night
rooms are well equipped and have all the necessary items needed
Wifi is fast and reliable and at no extra charge.
Based on the price range for a mid range room then this is a excellent hotel for the price.
Can not see the point to pay double the price to stay in a chain hotel when this has everything needed.
Hint: pay a few dollars more and get a suite or corner room. its well worth it.
Congratulations and well done. -
Worth a try

Wuxi, China | Sep 25, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelThe hotel is good value for money compared to other hotels in the vicinity. It is within walking distance to the bars at Hubin Lu as well as many other restaurants and shopping malls. The staff at reception is friendly and efficient. Tripadvisor is a great website, but should not force reviewers to make their reviews excessively long.
