Budget Hotel, all you need
Soliranum
Basel, Schweiz | Jul 15, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelPaid 794 RMB for 6 nights. Room was clean enough, as was the bathroom, no smells or anything. Aircon was fairly quiet, and not too cold. Staff try hard to help even with limited English.
Only problem I had is that cleaning lady kept forgetting to change my towels and thus never had towels when I got back in the evening, so had to always get them at the reception.
Dabaishu Station (Line 3) is just around the corner (5-10 Min walk).
Perfect for travellers on a budget. -

Location not the best, but if you ask around you can directions to appropriate places via public transport.
The room was clean and good size for the most part. However it was caked in mould up one wall, which has left me with a bit of a cold.
I recommend the restaurant attached to this place, good tucker!
Fair for the price, but I won't be returning. (TIC). -
Great budget hotel

Kurashiki, Japan | Jan 7, 2026 | Trip type: Solo travelThis is a clean, excellent budget hotel with a very nice bathroom. The staff speak English reasonably well and were helpful. The free, no hassle WiFi was very much appreciated.
Note: this hotel is actually closer to Dabaishu Station than Chifeng. :-) -
The worst accomodation of my trip in Cina
Francy_April
Aug 24, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesI have been in different hotels/ hostels during my trip in Cina and this has been the worst. The room they gave us the first night was so small that there wasn't space to open the backpack, it's clear that was a single room with a double bed inside! Moreover the room was dirty and there was the worst pillow I have ever used! The wi-fi didn't work (only few minutes a day and very slowly), the staff barely speak English and they were not helpful at all. In addition the hotel is far from everything and is very hard to find a taxi! It is true that it's a very cheap hotel, but I suggest you to find an hostel close to the Bund or to the French concession for the same price!

Budget hotel but not great

London, United Kingdom | Mar 24, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelFirst of all, it took me a while to find this hotel as there were no clear directions to the hotel. Luckly I bumped into someone that knew how to get to this place. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the hotel from the Dabaishu metro station.
The hotel is in a dodgy area. One evening I came back at 11:30pm and did not feel safe walking on my own late at night. From what I have heard, there have been incidents where people left escort cards under the hotel rooms late at night.
To reach the main attractions by metro you usually have to change lines 2 to 3 times. Given the fact that Shanghai is huge, you waste a lot of time commuting to places unless you take the bus from the front of the hotel (I haven't tried the bus so cannot comment on that).
The bed is very hard and the pillows are very thin. There aren't many places to eat around the hotel and the majority do not have menus in English. F
I would suggest getting a hotel room on the blue line (metro line 8) or green line (metro line 2).
