  It is a nice hotel. Historical building with new rooms inside. Not too many hotel facilities, but fine for me. I only stay at the hotel at night. Location is excellent. Close to all the well known sightseeing places in Shanghai. There are lots lots of restaurants around. I would like to stay here again when I go to Shanghai next time.

  Fantastically located only a few minutes to the Bund and shopping, yet nice and quiet. Beautiful deco building sympathetically renovated. Don’t get confused with other hotels of a similar name in the chain. The aircon is inoperable when the outside temperature is temperate...the windows were openable for ventilation so it was quite comfortable and the staff delivered a fan....good for the environment I guess!

  Not much to look at on the outside. Two doormen greeted us in the small lobby and directed us to the elevator. So far, not impressed, but when we got to the second floor for check-in, all our fears disappeared. What a charming hotel! We loved our stay there. They do speak some English at the desk, which is helpful, but was never an obstacle during our entire month-long trip. They have a small dessert café just off the lobby. There are always umbrellas available in the downstairs lobby. Our room was small, but comfortable, and had everything we needed. We found it an easy walk to the train, and other sites were nearby. Shanghai is the most cosmopolitan city we visited on our trip. We certainly wish we could have spent more time there. Only 3 days, and we ended up going to Tongli for one of those days. The entire month flew by much too fast. China is a wonderful place to visit and the people were lovely.

  The decision to book this hotel was due to its very convenient location. The hotel is located in the city center, between the metro station exits. Each of them can be reached on foot in 3-5 minutes. In walking distance, the main shopping street of Shanghai, up to the Bund is a 20-minute walk. On this, all the pluses from staying at this hotel end ... (We arrived at the hotel late at night, and although we booked the room 2 months before when we were driving, our reception was not found at the reception.) The searches continued for 20 minutes, after which the reception staff Offered us to book a room for 1 night. At the same time, they explained that tomorrow our reservation will be found! But for tomorrow the reservation was not found, however we stayed at the hotel for a reserved time. I do not want to look like an old grumpy, but what for then generally there are Bооking. com and Tripdvisor? We were lodged in a small dark room and every morning we were woken by Chinese neighbors who were slamming doors, laughing loudly and talking in the corridor, why is it opposite the door of our room ... To finish with the number I will say that the pillows were terribly uncomfortable ... (((The hotel has a pseudo-French café where you can drink coffee, eat cake and yogurt, but the cost of such a breakfast is several times greater than in a cafe near the hotel. We were also very upset by the reception staff, who could not solve any of our problems or answer the questions. I do not speak English very well myself, but in the language spoken by the reception staff is not exactly English!) They carefully listen to your question, then talk to each other in Chinese, and then they say something to you in English, as they think ... And they absolutely do not know their city!!! Absolutely! All the sights of Shanghai I seek through the Internet. By the way, wi-fi in the hotel disgusting !! It is almost not in the room, the connection was constantly interrupted, and when you addressed to the reception staff, what I wrote earlier started - serious people - talking among themselves in Chinese - the problem does not dare. One example as an illustration. Earlier on the embankment of the Bund, fireworks were staged with the onset of the New Year. A few years ago there was a crush and many people suffered, after which the salute was canceled. The whole of Shanghai and the hotel staff know about it. But when we left the hotel on December 31 to go to the Bund embankment, we were told that the salute would not be simply not said, in the result we just took a night walk to the embankment and back ... Shanghai is a wonderful and interesting city, my wife and I liked it very much, but if we come here again, we definitely will not stay at this hotel.

  A great hotel at an even better price. Can't beat the location - the Bund in one direction, Yu Gardens in the other. Dashije metro stop is right around the corner - choose the Ninghai Road Exit. Service was great. AC worked great. Room came with a Keurig style coffee maker. The hotel is located in the former YMCA, so the entrance is a little different. I liked the historical aspect of the building. Booked in a corner room on 7th floor...overlooking the intersection below. Some street noise, performers, etc, but by 10:30 its just a normal street intersection (with big screen advertisements). Did not opt for breakfast - too many good and cheap options within walking distance.
