If the location works for you, it's a superb hotel.

Montbard, France | Oct 14, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesStayed here for a week at the end of September. Room was fine, bed was the most comfortable of all six hotels on this trip to Shanghai. Wife enjoyed the pool a few times, we were out and about all the time so didn't sample the hotel food. Breakfast was often a 4 yuan pancake from a stall next to a fruit seller on the way to the Shanghai stadium metro station on Tianyaoqiao road. Reception staff were helpful, we changed our length of stay at short notice and they didn't charge for the cancelled day. The location suited our needs and we wanted for nothing. I'm glad there was no concert at the stadium though!

A nice hotel - but beware of it's location.

Great Dunmow, United Kingdom | Oct 5, 2025 | Trip type: Solo travelYes, it's a relatively high class hotel. It's some way out of the city centre and an hour from the airport, but there are trains within a short walk. The food is very nice and varied, the beds comfortable.
The problem is with its actual location. It's built into a soccer stadium, and has a large events hall attached as well (Shanghai Masters Snooker, etc). If there is a soccer match on, it is ridiculously busy. Try to arrive, and you can sit outside for an hour before your car/bus can enter. Time is away from such events, it's great. -
Novelty hotel, Central locaiton

New York City, New York | Sep 25, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessI think staying here was really cool. The novelty of being in an active stadium was pretty awesome. It is an official stadium of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and some of the rooms face the Inside of the Stadium (these are pricier of course).
The rooms are just fine. Nothing exceptional about them. Pretty basic in terms of amenities and an older feel to them, not really modern, though they were clean and were a great size. The rooms facing the stadium are significantly nicer. The bath robes have a kimono style to them and were extremely comfortable.
The Breakfast buffet downstairs was pretty solid, it's in a beautiful large restaurant on the first floor, and they have traditional chinese breakfast items as well a large array of western breakfast items. I thoroughly enjoyed that they had so many options, every day.
There is a HUGE nightlife scene right at the stadium, where there are bars, clubs and restaurants alongside the stadium. That was definitely convenient. Taxis are pretty frequent and are cheap so going elsewhere in Shanghai for a night out is really easy.
Shanghai is a massive city and this is a really central location that many people know, so it was pretty easy to get to with a taxi and the metro, with TWO stops within a 5 minute walk from the stadium.
I recommend staying here -
Good hotel location, poor rooms

Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia | Sep 24, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessHotel is located in Shanghai stadium. near the metro station line 4 and line 10 Location is good, but hotel rooms are really simple, half of them with view on wall.
On the other hand breakfast was good .Wifi connection was really slow -
Good start to holiday

Shrewsbury, United Kingdom | Sep 16, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesThis was the first hotel of our Wendy Wu China tour. We were apprehensive about the standard of accommodation we were to use but this dispelled our fears.
Good facilities and comfortable and spacious rooms with separate living area. Great choice at breakfast.
Only downside was the view out into the stairwell of the stadium. Some of the others on the tour had rooms on upper floors that looked out over the stadium.
Overall good start to holiday.
Additional Information about Regal East Asia Hotel Shanghai

REGAL SHANGHAI EAST ASIA HOTEL The 4-star hotel is located in the modern Xu Hui District. More precisely, the hotel compound is part of Xujiahui, a city within the city, with historic parks and buildings, contemporary retail, office, administration and residential structures. The hotel itself is situated within the Shanghai Stadium complex and is architecturally part of the stadium. It features 338 rooms and suites of different dimensions and with different views. Most EXECUTIVE CLUB ROOMS are 2-tiered; they are the largest rooms with city or stadium views and are located on L11 and L12. PREMIER ROOMS are located on L10; many are 2-tiered and are more spacious than rooms on the lower levels. DELUXE ROOMS on L10 and L11 face the stadium and are mostly very quiet. SUPERIOR ROOMS on L5 through L9, face the city. SOHO ROOMS are located on L3 through L9. They face the rear side of the stadium tribunes. They are economy class rooms with reduced dimensions. They are mostly quiet and represent a bargain for those who need to stay in Shanghai just for a night and are on a budget. The complex was built for the Olympic Games and provides access to 3 Metro lines in 2 Metro Stations. The gates for Line 11 of SHANGHAI SWIMMING CENTER, are located about 200m to the left of the hotel exit, and for lines 1 and 4 in station SHANGHAI STADIUM, it takes SOME 4-minutes' walk to the pedestrian rim of the compound. Line 1 takes passengers to Nanjing Road on the BUND and PEOPLE'S SQUARE right in the center of Shanghai. Line 11 connects to many other lines. The facilities of the hotel include a Cantonese restaurant THE PEAK, an all-day dining room STADIUM CAFE, a modern tenanted Japanese restaurant ZEN, TIFFANY LOUNGE with live entertainment in the evening, as well as the Cafe and Deli REGAL PATISSERIE. Function venues include on L1 the 300-dinner seat REGAL BALLROOM that can be 8 times subdivided for various capacities, and at G-level, the 300-dinner seat CRYSTAL BALLROOM flanked by 7 individual or subdivided function rooms, as well as a 14-seat convertible BOARDROOM. Additional facilities include a generous INDOOR POOL, SAUNA, GYM, a third party-operated SPA with 2 private room saunas. The hotel contains some retail outlets such as a styling salon, tailor, antique, specialty tea and jewelry boutiques. The hotel's top 3 floor levels are ideal for individuals doing business in this district of Shanghai. It is perfect for Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition (MICE) delegates during the typical business days and months. During weekends, public holidays and the vacation periods, it very much suits tourists who do not mind a Metro ride while staying at a hotel with a much more favorable room rate than at hotels in Pudong. The hotel was built for SPORTS and STADIUM-size MEGA EVENTS such as soccer and track sports as well as for pop and other shows for up to 56,000 seats and the organizers stage such events on occasional weekends.
