  I’ve spent almost a week in the Executive Suite of this hotel, the room was decorated with new and modern style furnitures, the hole hotel is having a makeover and the result is really enjoyable, the lobby,the spa, the aisles and the rooms show up a relaxing Thai aesthetic, every place has a zen appearance and everywhere there is a fragrant smell, it’s something I really appreciated. The hole hotel is very clean and the receptionists are kind and helpful, they can all speak English, also in the dining area, -the only person in this hotel that gave me a bad impression was the lady in the spa, really impolite without reason, I complained about that behavior to the people in the hall. The dining area has an inner and also a lively terrace that offers a good view of the surrounding skyscrapers, they have a great food choice and you can also order pancakes,omelette and eggs cooked at the moment by cooks standing in front of you. Everyday around 10 pm there is a free sort of brunch with some kinds of pasta, desserts, appetizers and drinks, also the mini fridge in the room had some free snacks and drinks.
  We really enjoyed the sojourn here and i already told my friend to spend some time in this hotel as in the near area there is the Shanghai Old City, the Garden and the view of the Bund is just fifteen minutes of walking.

  My daughter and I stayed at SSAW Shanghai bund for 6 nights in total while in China. Rooms were large, amenities above average, warm rooms amidst cold Shanghai winter, good breakfast selection, complementary mini bar and supper, etc... hotel staff were very helpful. Got us taxi for our trip to airport at 5am in the morning. .. driver was waiting for us in the lobby before the designated time. 3 min walk from Yu garden station and 10 min walk to
  Yuyuan. Many eateries and convenience shops nearby. One stop from nanjing east pedestrian street and the bund. We will definitely stay again when we go to Shanghai. Kudos to Neils Taal (GM) and his team!

• surprise hotel - very nice room

  was not sure what to expect when I arrived at this hotel
  - the room was fantastic - great set up nice fit out - classy looking hotel in the middle of hectic town.
  short walk to the old part of town and great views of the city - only down side was the room service food ( I arrived late so had no choice ) the food was average but what do you expect when Chinese people are trying to cook western food that I ordered - bit like me trying to cook asian food I guess.
  All in all I would definitely stay there again.

  This hotel is well-located within 1 mile walk of the Bund, Yu Garden, People’s Square, Nanjing St Shopping, Shanghai Museum and the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center and a short walk to a subway station. In December 2017 we stayed 6 nights including breakfast in a non-smoking Deluxe Room with King Bed. Breakfast was excellent, a very ample buffet with a wide array of choices including omelets made to order. Room service menu was limited but included pizza and club sandwich. Restaurant menu was also good, but for us the restaurant was on the cold side. A nearby restaurant which was fun with good food in Time Love Live House 100 yards from the hotel. Staff was helpful and easy for us non-Mandarin speakers to communicate with. Room size was great and bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very modern. WiFi worked fine. Would definitely stay there again on another trip to Shanghai. A word of warning…do not accept taxi rides from strangers who approach you in China. They are most probably scammers who will charge you 10 times the actual fare. Use taxi stands and vehicles with a taxi sign on the top.

  Lastly, I totally agree with your comments regarding one of the well-known scams in Shanghai, the taxi scam. In order to warn all our guests, we have placed a sign in the lobby with the approximate taxi fares to different areas in town. Besides this, I also created a blog about this subject in my travel blog, especially designed for guests at our hotel. We strongly suggest asking our team of associates for assistance if you require a taxi or ask the approximate price beforehand. I am sure all readers will benefit from your useful information in your review.

• Great and clean with excellent location

  I did not give this five stars simply because it does not have the huge entry with all the five star trappings. It is a great hotel with an excellent location and a great value. I always look for clean. This hotel was spotless. I look for location. This location is great, easy to get there from the airport. Follow the directions you are sent. It is within easy walking distance of everything I wanted to see. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety. I cannot believe anybody would rate this hotel lower than a three. I believe that would be low. I highly recommend.
