• A bit disappointed

  I was expecting more both from the hotel and from Hainan. This area is still under construction and will probably be a great place in 3-4 years with many other resorts, restaurants and activities. Now there is just the hotel, the beach (which we were not allowed to go into which I understand is like this most year round) and the mall. The property is like always in China modern and nice but the staff fails to impress. At the pool you have to pay to rent some toys for the kids to use in the pool (!). One good thing not to miss is the Aqua restaurant, book in advance to sit in the tunnel watching the fish show.

• Excellent property on the beach

  Stayed 9 nights for youth sailing competition. The property was very new and well maintained and our room was amazing. We paid up for the club room which is a no brainer (thanks previous TA posts!)....breakfast, tea and cocktails with the best team! The restaurants where good but not great. The beer factory was fun - better food and the beer was really good! The staff struggled with speaking English and I didn’t help matters with very limited Chinese but we figured it out. Special shout out to Leo and Rain!

• Beautiful resort with garden right up to the beach

  This hotel has beautifully designed spacious rooms and I think all face the ocean. Each has a large lanai type balcony with a soaking tub on the balcony. How nice is that! The hotel grounds are beautiful and go right down to the ocean which has a wide sandy beach. Due to strong currents swimming in the ocean is discouraged. I found the food in the hotel's main restaurant (Cove) mediocre, but there is an excellent Chinese restaurant on the hotel grounds, just across from the main entrance. The hotel and grounds have many nice areas just to hang out with a book and relax. My stay was for a corp[orate meeting and I found the meeting facilities excellent.
  Utilmately this hotel reminds me a lot of resorts in Big Island Hawaii I have been to in the past.

• An unforgettable dinner at Aqua

  We originally planned to stay in InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort, unfortunately, due to their slow response and poor service quality, we opted to stay at another resort. Despite an unhappy experience, we still attracted by the stunning restaurant - Aqua.
  
  Before we visited, we heard that restaurant is expensive, poor food quality and not worth to go. Surprisingly, food is good, free juice and wine. We can choose either steak or lobster for the main course. Besides, lamb and crab are also available in the buffet which is yummy.
  
  Our table was arranged at the end of the tunnel, it is quiet and some devilfish and sharks were passed by us. The downside is a bright light was located at both sides of the tunnel which made us feel uncomfortable.
  
  In addition, the booking was terrible. The restaurant requested us bank-in to make the reservation, but when we asked for the details, they didn't give us response until we gave a call to IHG.
  
  In summary, "Aqua" is worth to visit, food is good, and gave us an unforgettable dinner. We are recommended to others and will probably visit again!

• My first visit to Sanya

  Stay in intercontinental for 2 nights. We booked a suite and the room is big and comfy. With buffet breakfast, free tea break and happy hour on the 17 floor, all we do is eat and relax all day long. The staff is very helpful and nice. We also booked the buffet dinner in the Aqua restaurant. But I felt that here is room for improvement. For the price ($100 plus per pax) I paid, I do expect more. I think the ambience and food can be better. More quality is better than more variety. Hope the tunnel dining will just allow adult only (kids screaming during my dinner).
