  We had a great stay here. The Eternity Pool was wonderful. Beautiful views. Beautiful landscaping. Courteous staff. Close to the beaches and downtown Sanya (10 minute walk). They made us feel important. Don't expect to hear much English in Sanya, but you may hear Russian... this is a popular Russian tourist destination.

• Great view and location. NOT foreigner friendly. Too many silly rules.

  We can't complain about the rooms cleanliness, location and views. But the service was not great. NOT foreigner friendly at all. They have so many silly rules which make your stay slightly frustrating. Such as swimming caps in the pool. No floates allowed on the big pool. No drinking near the pool. They stay were not helpful as well. They didn't help get taxis easily. Overall I wouldn't stay there again.

  I stayed at the Royal Garden for 1 night at the end of a 3 day business trip to Sanya. It was a big improvement on the hotel I stayed in for the first 2 nights (the Liking Hotel - previously known as the 'Landscape Hotel' around the corner). The hotel property is perched high on a hill with views of the sea below (though the views have sadly been partially blocked by the hotel opposite and by another large development that appears to have been ground to a halt). One of the stand out attractions of the hotel is the lovely infinity pool (with the views described above). The rooms are also pleasant. I had the breakfast buffet and like the many locally managed hotels in China, there were very limited western food options. Hotel staff were friendly (though again, as with most local hotels, very limited English is spoken). Catching a taxi from there is easy enough if you book this beforehand and the local taxis are very cheap (compared with Shanghai or Beijing)

  Stayed for a very long break.
  Plusses... Big rooms, polite and efficient service, with extra attempts made to understand English, location is in a nice area, a short walk from decent bars and cafes and restaurants, sea view
  Minuses... Breakfast extremely limited for Western tastes, inability to get taxi service
