Perfect for Qingdao...
sunnygohel
Porbandar, India | Dec 27, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessBudget hotel with a great location in heart of commercial hub. I was attending Chinese Seafood fair which is again too far from the city , a minus point for organisers. The hotel was excellent, good restaurant nearby, a street behind hotel at nice night life. Staff was just too good, adjacent to hotel was New York pub, which was amazing for a city like Qingdao. Must visit the pub and hotel is good for a budget player.

clean and affordable

Seoul, South Korea | Dec 6, 2025 | Trip type: CouplesPros: Rooms are clean, shower has decent water pressure. Wifi worked fine for us. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area within walking distance. There's a convenience store just next to the entrance. Staff speak basic English.
Cons: Pretty basic in terms of amenities. Bed is on the firm side (we didn't mind, but some people might). Walls are a bit thin, so you might need ear plugs. Not much of a view. Only two English channels available. Can't comment on the food. -
Great location, clean hotel at great price

Singapore, Singapore | Sep 8, 2025I've stayed in dozens of hotels in China, though this was my first in Qingdao. I was very happy with this choice. It's a local hotel but with the cleanliness standard of international hotels. The room was quite large compared to most local business hotels, though smaller than the 4/5 star int'l chains, and furnishings were simple but seemingly from a renovation a few years ago (?). (At many locally-run business hotels the furnishings can be literally falling apart, mildew-y, you name it.) The location is very very central: short walk to May 4 square, the Olympic sailing area, the "coffee street" (a lane with a whole lot of non-chain coffee shops with quite a few restaurants too), and a lively night area filled with restaurants as well as Chinese department stores. Getting to the sights further West (e.g., Ba Da Guan, the district with many mansions built by the Germans) is only ~6-7 kilometers away, short taxi ride. Supposedly by year-end the metro will be done and you can just take the metro there.
Downsides? It's a great hotel for most travelers, better than most local business hotels, but not up to int'l chain standards. For instance, no fridge in room, no person outside to help you hail taxis or grab your luggage. English is spoken by several at the front desk, but they likely won't help you instruct a taxi I'd guess. So if you're a tourist with no local contacts and no Chinese at all, then maybe you'd be better off staying at an int'l chain.
I paid ~US$45 / night, so I think it's a great value. When I booked the cheapest room at the Int'l chains were US$90. -

Satisfied

Rotterdam, The Netherlands | Apr 18, 2025 | Trip type: BusinessThe hotel was ok.
The room was clean and it had all I needed.
Be prepared that there is hardly any breakfast choice for the Western traveller who is not into Chinese style breakfast.
The fluid they call coffee is brown - that's the only similarity with real coffee.
It tasted like an instant powder drink.
Choice of bread was white toast and there was only plain butter. That's it.
Alternatively ginger cookies.
If you like Chinese breakfast though, the variety was good.
